Boy Meets...Follow

Man, I loved that show when I was a kid. A lot of good memories. Friday nights, My dad, brother and I would walk to 7-11, grab some snacks and pop, and head home to watch all the TGIF shows(if I recall, it was Sabrina(meh), some show about a guy who dies and returns as his best friend's guardian angel(teen angel?, also kinda meh), Boy Meets World, and some show about a genie(somewhat entertaining)). Good times, man.

I worry though, that they'll try too hard to make it appeal to today's audience, which has become adjusted to the shallow, inane crap that currently passes as programming for children, young teens, and, as I've come to learn, intellectually impaired adult women. Time will tell, I guess.

I must be old. When Boy Meets World was airing, I was already out of its targeted demographic and considered it shallow, inane crap.

Makes sense. It's not as though Hannah Montana made Disney any money.

This. While there were, admittedly, some episodes that were shallow and inane(as there will be with almost any tv series), for the most part, they managed to do a lot of episodes that touched on some real issues that kids and teens face, or could face, as they grow up,without managing to go past the family-friendly line, but often without crossing into overtly sappy territory. These days, shows for kids and young teens tend to be unrealistic, and focus on providing shallow and unrealistic expectations for one's teen years.

I'd rather see a hundred shows like Boy Meets World start to air than one more Hannah Montana or Lizzie McGuire, or whatever the **** passes for live-action youth programming this decade.

And now it's all, "Money and being good looking are the most important things in the world, and you can be super happy and have lots of fun if you have those things, and hey look, I'm singing now!"

Can't tell if they lessened the laugh track use or if I just got used to it by the end of the episode. Not a good start, I'll keep it on the DVR and give it another couple episodes.

Boy Meets World used a pretty heavy handed laugh track, but it wasn't nearly as often during a single back and forth. Just to make sure I wasn't remembering it wrong, I looked up the Pilot of Boy Meets World. Opening scene is Cory and Feeny in the cafeteria, Feeny commenting on Cory's choice of candy bar for breakfast, Cory retorting with a comment on Feeny drinking the coffee, referring to it as a "high powered energy drink". I think I counted three laugh tracks during the volley. Multiple pauses that were laugh free. But in Girl Meets World they did a laugh after every few words nearly when she was being interrupted by the big black woman, pretty much during every momentary pause.

Some may say that Boy Meets World wasn't any better, or I'm remembering in through rose-colored glasses, but I still watch Boy Meets World every morning while getting ready for work on ABC Family. In the last 3 or 4 years I've probably seen the whole thing a dozen times through as it reruns in the mornings. I still enjoy the show.



She dropped a bit of weight it seems. When I was in High School I think my parents watched a TV Show on E! that she hosted. She had put on a few pounds.

Funny. My mom called me to tell me Girl Meets World was starting up and I should watch it.

She liked Boy Meets World.
