I'd like to say it is a pretty epic time to be a comic book fan, what with all the movies being released, but for a time when the PS1 was released I thought it was a pretty epic time to be a fan of RPGs as well, and I feel that genre is on life support now. Thus far, the releases haven't been awful, though some stinkers have been released. I just chalk that up more to standard hit or miss of anything that is Hollywoodian. This will probably be a stinker.
Comic written by Fred Van Lent and Andrew Foley for Platinum Studio Comics, IE: basically an indy company, Movie starring Harrison Ford, 13 from House and the James Bond that isn't Sean Connery. Without giving too much away, the story plays around the concept of Manifest Destiny, but on a galactic scale. Personally, I wasn't very fond of it. Incredibly cliche set ups and predictable from page 1 to page 116.
I can see it making a decent movie, with plenty of action and explosions. And by decent I mean if you're fond of the type of movie where the entire draw are the action scenes and nothing else. Granted I tend to ... I can't say enjoy, so I'll go with "not hate," those types of movies, so we'll see. Just from reading the comic I can't say this is worth the full price of a ticket, but wouldn't leave the theater if it were part of a cheap matinee bundle. Does have Harrison Ford, though. Might be the only difference between crap and gold.
