Assassination Classroom has ended, and I'm surprised that the author stuck to the original plot and did not invoke some magical ******** to give a 100% happy ending. 10/10 would recommend.

Dunno, it was pretty much 100% happy ending. The kids all survived and became successful, Korosensei's goal was to teach and eventually die anyway so it's not like he didn't get what he wanted, and even the "evil" principle and the two teachers ended up happier than they started. Though yes, it stuck to the original plot without asspulls. Yes, 10/10.

Bleach: Zaraki finally shows his Shikai, and Thor-wannabe's sword has space-warping properties.

Looks like Kubo finally caught up to everyone else from years ago calling Yachiru being Kenpachi's sword. Which I guess makes sense, considering how long it's taking him to end his series after saying it was ending.

Didn't someone in this thread call his Shikai being an Axe? And why aren't the two other monsters around to mimic his moves?

Bleach: Apparently Kenpachi's Bankai turns him into Kenpachi.

Kind of hoping it leads to a flashback from the Kenpachi vs Unohana. That might be the last story threads I'm honestly interested in, and saying interested is being pretty generous.

Apparently the "Truly Powerful" don't need a flashy Bankai.

Jesus monkey balls that's more exposition in one chapter than years of chapters of Bleach and literally just as much happened.

There was a second chapter of HxH, and this one was actually actiony with Hisoka. Still expositiony as one would expect from the manga, but not nearly as bad as last chapter.

Bleach is over, all the standard shipping and breeding has been confirmed, god help us if they try a "Boruto" spinoff with this series. Yhwach's death still underwhelming. Live action Bleach movie in the works.

Wasn't Rukia's whole plot near the beginning that shinigami can't breed, which is why they just make family units with whoever shows up?

Maybe Aizen allowed it now that he's "God", or the science twins developed something using Ichigo the QuinHollGami's DNA.

Far from topical, but Pluto is a good read.

I should have realized it sooner, but it's exactly what you expect from the author and advisor. It's Astro Boy meets Monster. It does mystery well, balancing intrigue with solveability. The it's mostly Urasawa's art style, but the Tezuka influence is pretty clear when it does appear, without being too disruptive. Unsurprisingly it's plot structure bridges the two styles as well. The robots and their place in society are very much drawn from Tezuka. They're not quite machines and not quite people in very naive way. Urasawa uses this setting, but rightfully doesn't try to explore the social aspect too much and instead focuses more on individual characters' experiences within this given framework. Also, commentary on the U.S. and its invasion of the Middle East.

More so than simply being good, I'm impressed at how successfully Urasawa blends and adapts something that is very much not his style.

Can we talk for a minute about the pure awesome that is Hinamatsuri?

With a premise like "yakuza member discovers a middle school girl with telekinetic powers" you'd expect either a cliche action series or a slapstick comedy, but it quickly goes in a completely different direction. It is a comedy, but not quite like you'd expect. It's mostly about the everyday life of a relatively normal guy who happens to be a yakuza member, his freeloading "daughter" (who mostly just uses her powers to do mundane things like eat and play video games at the same time), and their weird (and awesome) friends. It's very clever about the humor and the absurd situations. You'll laugh, you'll cry. Every chapter will make you feel something, even if it's just embarrassment for Nitta or the need to give Anzu a hug.

If I have one complaint, it's that that titular character (Hina) is the least interesting person in the series. She's not bad, but all the other POV characters are so good that her chapters can be a bit of a comedown in comparison.

Overall though, this series is, without exaggeration, one of the best and funniest things I've read in years.

Hey, lolgaxe, you seen the Batman/Elmer Fudd special issue yet? It's all anyone could talk about on Twitter last night. They seem to think it's good.
