need help identifying a tv show or miniseriesFollow

There was a tv show(it may have been a miniseries) on( I think it was the Sci-Fi Channel) within the past 3-4 years that I happened to think about the other day but cant think of the name of it for the life of me. I only saw like 1/2 of the first episode / part. It had something with some scientists developing a way to travel vast distances in a machine that would teleport the person to a new offworld site where a probe with a receiving end had been setup. A group of people went through to explore the new world but one of them somehow got sucked into himself and died upon arrival. When they got situated they went out looking and exploring around and stumbled onto a prehistoric creature (I think it either was, or resembled a massive bear) in the woods.

Anyone got any ideas? I'd love to find out the name and get the dam thing on dvd or something
