Not sure if anyone else heard about it, but an animated movie was released today based on Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight. I was actually really excited when I heard about it, but its an utter disappointment (although it stayed fairly true to the book).
Anyone else hear about it/see it?

I have no interest in it, but then again I was never a huge dragonlance fan in the first place. The original trilogy wasn't bad the I wasn't impressed with the others I read.

I've heard of it before, I'm even quite curious to see it even if it's a disappointment.
I still like that series, even if it is rather flawed.

I've seen the previews for it which looked like a simply abominable combination of 80's style animation and heavy-handed CGI. I don't know if they cleaned that up any before release.

Well, it just came out today, and I learned about it yesterday...but I was really interested so I picked it up this morning.
I didn't finish it. It was almost as bad as the cartoon Return of the King from way back when.
And no, they didn't clean it up at all. Its choppy animation and poorly done CGI. However...I bet if they wanted to do a REAL Dragonlance movie, like a Hollywood live action or full CGI one, it could be done fairly well.

I might Netflix it someday just to see how poor it is.

I actually liked the cartoon version of LotR back then, always was disappointed they never created a sequel. Or perhaps I just got lucky and never saw that one, it's possible.
Yeah, watched the trailer linked here, for some reason, and not boding well, it reminded me of the likes of He-Man. Like you put, Jophiel, cheesy 80's cartoons.

I put it into my Netflix queue just to be able to authoritatively say that it blows.

You could save yourself the trouble and just bluff your way through. Say that you saw it and it sucked. Then, when anyone tries to contradict you, just accuse them of lying about seeing it.
Though I'm sure no one would argue against it sucking, just based on the actual trailer.

Well, honestly speaking, I've seen worse than D&D. Seriously, I have. Which is either saying something about my personal taste or about the movies I watch, not quite sure which.
It had potential, just a lack of acting talent and budget really.

i almost walked out twice, the first time when the Super intelligent beholders (Int 21 on a scale of 3-18) where duped by a thrown rock...
But the part when my future wife had to restrain me was when the guy with the glowing blue sword in leather armoUr was confronted by the evil guy with the red glowing sword in black plate to what sounded distinctly like the Star wars "imperial march" played backwards.
Seriously if you are going to rip off another film, don't rip off Star wars.
The only other film that comes close was Crow II:City of angels, and i blame Brandon Lee's ghost f*cking with the production staff for that one.

You're a much braver man than I. You should get Black Sheep while you're at it Joph. And I'm not talking the Chris Farley/David Spade "comedy."
