The Left Behind SeriesFollow

I have just started reading these books 2 weeks ago, already on book 4. This series is amazing so far, and I hear it is better towards the middle when there is more action and such.

Any comments on these books?

I do have to admit, the first one isn't amazing, not a lot of action. There isn't a whole lot in the 2nd or 3rd one either, but if you look at the back of the books they give you about a paragraph of what you will find in that book, and
reading those just makes you want to read them to get to those parts. At least that's my opinion ;]

Never heard of them. What are they about?

It's about The Apocalypse that comes from the Bible. It's a group of 4 people that basically stand up against the Anti-Christ and preach God and Scriptures. There is a lot of Action in the books. I suggest reading them unless you're hardcore Anti-Christian/Atheist. I've learned SO much from these.

On a side note, got my Scholar back XD!

EDIT: Thanks Brill! ^^^^^^

I'll pass on these books. I'm not real into religion oriented books for some reason.

I haven't read the books, but this ongoing blog review, written from a Christian perspective, was very interesting. Basically, His take is that the series is actually anti-Biblical in its teachings. He calls it "Pre-trib porno" (pre-Tribulation)

NOTE: You need to start reading from the bottom, as it's a blog and the most recent posts are at the top.

I Loled at reading that, he's putting stuff that happened Chapters after or multiple pages after as if there right next to each other in the book.

I've read some of them, didn't find it terribly interesting. Note that the authors use just one (out of countless) interpretations of Revelation, and use a lot of creative liberty. I thought the series was good at first, but after a few books it feels formulaic.

And Ambrya's blog link is quite humorous. However, I don't see how anyone would want to read the books after seeing his harsh (but funny, and often dead-on) criticism.

I read the first few as well, mostly out of curiosity over how he interprets the book of Revelations.

They were good, however I never finished them. I do remember there being quite a conflict over it, however it was just their interpretation, whether it may be true or not. Some of the greatest people who wrote commentaries on the bible usually left out the book of Revelations.

I got towards the end of the series but stopped reading them due to lack of time. They all really run together for me, so it's tough to know where I stopped. The action part of the books were excellent from what I remember.

I take their interpretation of the events in Revelations with a grain of salt, however, due to the fact that basically they started with one idea and tried to make everything wrap around it. It left for some plot holes, but obviously they're going off a script that is very vague to begin with.

My main beef with the books is that while one book would cover short periods of time, all of a sudden in other books years would elapse. I don't want to elaborate further so as to not ruin the book for others though.

If I could find where I left off and had a summary of what had happened prior I would definetly pick the books back up though because for the most part I really enjoyed the plot!

Jenkins is really terrible with continuity (and many other important aspects of writing, but that's beside the point).

I wish I could say that their absurd interpretations of Revelation (with a bit of Ezekiel, Daniel, and some of Paul's Epistles thrown in) was just a fringe thing, but they have a lot of popularity (especially among Christians who will not read the Bible and interpret for themselves). They sucked me into it when I was 14 and I did believe in the Rapture for several years. It wasn't until I started analyzing Revelation that I realized how many holes there are in their eschatology. The Antichrist isn't even mentioned in Revelation, unless you interpret (one of the) obscure beasts to mean a 21st century world ruler (that comes from Romania and takes over the UN, nonetheless).

It got better towards the middle...then got worse towards the end...ended up not bothering finishing the series, which is weird for me...I usualy finish a series, no matter how bad it is.

I got about three quarters of the way through the first book and then it began to feel very conspiracy theory-ish. At which point I dropped it like a hot potato and ran (figuratively speaking).

Yeah, something about it didn't rub me the right way.... It wasn't quite the conspiracy-theory-ish but it was something...

I'm not gonna lie, as I just finished the series, I don't really like it as much as I did.

I read these about till book 7 or 8 and then I just stopped. They are good in some parts but if its not in an action part the books drag like no other. I give them all 6 out of 10.
