I loved the orginal series of Firefly and was sad to see no second series ever come along so I am in raptures over the new film!

What did you all think of it? I am still blown away by the various shocks and suprises that came along with it. I always was curious about the reapers! I need not be any more!

There must be some other firefly fans out there :D

They'd better actually show a reaver in the movie. Man did that make me mad about the series, like nothing of any substance happened before it was cancelled.

Can someone who never saw the series see the movie and enjoy it?

The movie's due next month over here, but no channel ever aired 'Firefly', so I'm not sure if it's worth seeing.

The movie gives enough back story and enough history for you to enjoy yourself, even without having seen the tv show.

Yes, they show the reavers.

Joss Whedon is and has always been a genius.

That movie rocked, hardcore.

The movie was great. I saw it opening night. They did a great job translating it from TV to big-screen, however it did lose a little bit of it's western feel, and if you had not seen Firefly, I can understand the complaints that the characters weren't introduced enough.

The play this year at Balticon 40 was Have Brown Coat will Travel.

Even though I never saw the show I was able to get quite a few of the inside jokes. I'm going to have to see if any of the fans I know have this series savedon tape or dvd's. I love any way I can ***** Fox.

I saw the movie before the series so I didn't think much of the people who got killed.

Thinking back, it makes me kinda sad.

You can buy all the epidsodes they did on DVD. Just do a search on Amazon or the like. I've been meaning to order the set to check it out, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Kakar is right. I picked them up several months ago, and I watch an episode or two a week typically. I picked them up after watching an episode or two on the SciFi channel when they were airing them.

Just watched the movie and now I too am searching to find the TV series on DVD. The story was good, awesome dialogue. Movie was produced with just the right balance of action, charm and schmaltz.

I felt that the movie was an understated gem. I just saw it for the first time recently, without being familiar with the series. Needless to say, I will be buying the dvds soon.

I just picked Firefly up at my local Sam's Club for $17 - so that might be a place to check if you want to get it for pretty cheap.

It's still such a shame that Fox pulled the plug on the show. The ratings in it's first season were higher than Buffy the Vampire Slayer's rating during it's first season. Firefly is going to go down as the best tv show to get cancelled. On topic though I loved the movie. I thought that it had enough grit and the quirky humor that made the show so enjoyable to watch to be a fairly successful movie. At least it's a proper send off for a very good underrated to show.

The problem with Firefly was in the handling of the episode airings by Fox. They aired them out of order. They were often pre-empted by MLB. In general it wasn't handled properly. Whomever handles that, during that time, should've been taken out and shot. I'll admit, when it was on I saw it maybe once or twice, and couldn't really get into it. Things have certainly changed and I can't seem get enough of it.

I watched it from the beginning just because the entire concept intrigued me. I remember reading they played them out of order because "Serenity" didn't have enough action in it and they were afraid people wouldn't come back to check out the next episodes.

You never know though, maybe another network will pick it up. But that looks doubtful. I know for a while the WB was in the rumor mill for picking it up, but that never panned out. Ah well Smiley: oyvey Thank Murdoch for that ****.

I liked Serenity so much that I bought the Firefly series from Amazon after watching it. I never tried Best Buy - too far to drive. Both are well worth watching if you like Sci-Fi.

I was fortunate enough to find Serenity on the SciFi channel.   XD
I was unfortunate enough to forget to slap a tape in the VCR!   X(
