I get playing online for long periods of time during summer (and weekends, I suppose), but I think there's a difference between chatting online with people you're playing a game with and chatting with a single specific much older adult male, to the point of following him around to different games, and having conversations that are well outside the boundaries of game playing. As you say, these aren't things that any of us can control or affect, but this behavior should be seen as big ol flashing warning lights to Kuwoobie. I get that he's trying to help, and for all we know maybe it is help. I just think that the odds suggest otherwise. Maybe in a feel good summer movie the young kid in a terrible home situation reaches out on the internet and finds a kindly father figure and learns the meaning of family, or whatever. Sadly, in the real world this sort of thing doesn't tend to happen. In the real world, said needy attention starved kid will steadily increase the demands on the adult, forcing him to choose between her and his own family, and making him feel like he's hurting her if he doesn't comply. At some point, he will still not sufficiently meet her demands (because they're unrealistic) and tension will erupt, which will likely result in her lashing out with accusations about him that will come crashing down on him (possibly quite literally in the form of police coming through his front door).
At which point, all the insistence that it was all just fatherly and friendly and whatnot will not matter against statements that he's never felt this way with anyone before in his life, and comments about how much older she acts than her real age, etc, etc, etc. It'll look 'bad'.
Maybe that wont happen. I don't know. I'm not the one there having the conversations. But the second someone starts talking about their alternate (violent) personalities, my response is to distance myself as quickly as possible, not tell that person that I'm ok with being hurt if it makes them feel better. I just don't see this ending well.
