WIFI questionFollow

Hello,

I'm a dedicated alla lurker and I came here in hopes of getting some, probably simple, questions answered.

Ok, here is my situation. I am currently in the Middle East doing some work and the internet that they have available here is something called QualityNet(Qnet). It is one of those connections that give you an ip address and when you open up your browser, it redirects you to the router's page (192.xx.xx.xx) to sign in with a username and password.

It will not let you browse other websites unless you sign in. I have found, however, that I am able to use Magic Jack and also send/receive email without being signed in. GREAT!

So they aren't watching for ports 110, 25, or UDP 5061. I have tried both normal websites (80) and secure (443) with similar results of it redirecting me back to the log in page. If I am able to find a way to bypass going through those ports to view websites, then I could save myself a healthy amount of money. Is there anyone out there familiar with these types of connections and/or know of a way to browse websites through a non-standard port?

Negative. It is a WIFI that is hosted by a company called Qnet. If I tried to use port 25 to view webpages, it won't let me (ie: http://www.msn.com:25) I'm thinking that the only possible way to be able to do this would be to connect to a proxy server and have that direct me to the websites.... I don't know though, which is why i came here in hopes of some kind of direction I could take.

Get a shell account or small VPS somewhere, and use an ssh tunnel to browse the internets.
