So, I'm a Gladiator without a Linkshell here in Lindblum and I can't seem to find any decent weapons. . . anywhere. I've been in and out of the wards (which drastically dropped in population since yesterday's maintenance. . . what's up with that?) and I have browsed through nearly every character's items that I have seen in cities and camps around Limsa Lominsa and have found nothing but high level stuff. I even approached a level 43 blacksmith at the guild in LL and asked her to make me a Bronze Spatha and was turned away because neither of us had the materials. Should I have had them readily available for her? At my rank it would be kind of hard to find those materials, however at her rank I imagine it couldn't have been very hard to make them. . . dunno maybe i'm missin something there. Anyway my frustration is that I am at rank 15 and I am still running around with my weathered gladius. I feel like I need a better blade already! So I was wondering if anyone had any helpful info or even if someone could make me a weapon that's around my rank (I mean I can get gil. lol.). Any tips or favors would be greatly appreciated! Hey there! I also started this game as a GLD and was in a similar situation around rank 15, so I feel your pain. Finding lower level equipment can be difficult.
Unable to find what I needed at the time, I made it a priority to create my own weapon, a bronze dagger I believe, which proved to be quite the adventure. Throughout the process I gained quite a bit of XP by leveling the jobs necessary to creating all the items needed to craft the final product. Needless to say in the end it was quite rewarding!
The research wasn't as bad as I initially predicted either as ZAM has an extensive database regarding recipes and where to acquire goods to be used in crafting.
However, if you're not interested in crafting at all, I've found the following item for you also in the ZAM database.

It's a little pricey and may not be THE BEST weapon for your rank but, it's readily available from an NPC.
Also, regarding your lack of Linkshell, I believe my uber fun LS, Serenity, is still recruiting. Check out the following links and see if it's something you might be interested in!
