I already tried this game way back on the Russian servers, so I'm hyped for it.

Anyone else going to give it a shot?

Can't stand the character design and stylization. Way too oversexualized. I want to play a game, not watch pron.

It is a really fun game and actually has a sense of uniqueness to it. I've been playing it for about 2 years now which is why ARR always disappointed me in the sense it brought absolutely nothing new to the table.

@Catwho

That doesn't really bother me because that's just the nature of it, much like TERA - yet despite that, they managed to actually bring a freshness to the genre lol.

I'm in the technical alpha this weekend and I've been really enjoying it so far.

The combat feels a lot like Tera but without the things that I hated about Tera's combat such as hard animation locks. I have some nitpicks with the interface and control scheme (I can't bind things to mouse4/5? Why?) but overall I'm enjoying the game.

One thing I will say is that the races have almost no variation between them. With the single exception of the Lyn, the races just feel like: Human, Big Human, and Porno Human.

This is the game I have my eyes on. It looks to have the most interesting and engaging combat that I have ever seen in an mmo. The game is beautiful! Just hope my pc can run it good and it gets good support. It uses a fighter type game setup. I looked at Blade and Soul but it doesn't grab my attention enough. Combat is the most important thing to me in my rpgs since that is what most my time is spent doing.

It also has mounted combat, castle sieges, parkour, really smart map and world systems. Probably the best graphics in terms of horsepower, and a character creation system that just floors me lol. I am pretty sure this game has to have a downside somewhere so preparing myself for being slightly disappointed.

It just occurred to me the beta is the day before Halloween. I think im going to make a character that's tall super thin with white skin long black hair and pure black eyes just to try and creep people out

I've had my eye on Blade and Soul for a while. Playing Wildstar atm which is a nice change of pace but not something I'd play long term.

I've seen quite a bit of it, but haven't had the chance to get my hands on it. I care far more about how it plays than how it looks to be honest. Oversexualized doesn't bother me because I can't look at my phone, turn on the TV or even walk out my door without being slapped in the face with it. I haven't seen everything there is to see but just based on what I see IRL on a day to day basis, B&S seemed pretty tame to me.

I'm a bit apprehensive about MMOs in general lately, but I'll probably try it out. I'm pretty sure that fallout will be soaking up the majority of my time in the near future though.

I'll probably record some gameplay so I'll keep those who are interested up to date on the boobs. So much boobs

I guess this is just my feminine cis heteronormity showing through and biasing me against it and all.

I got nothing against boobs and hips, but it's like someone sliding a bowl of pistachio ice cream to me. I'll look at it, sigh, and shove it away again. I know other people find it delicious but it just doesn't appeal to me.

Visual style really does mean a great deal to me when it comes to MMOs. That's why I played XI over WoW for so long. It's why I didn't really get too deep into ESO or Wildstar. I have an overly broad and shallow personal Uncanny Valley sense, especially when it comes to female character designs. I don't even want to look at them, let alone play them.

There's more to the design than just half naked women though

There's half naked dudes and weird rat things too

I think it looks pretty fun, nice to see the combat and all, but it is pure vertical progression (according to Mr Happy's stream at least) and I just can't stand that anymore so I doubt I will try it.

It's unfortunate...but I can stand the itemization far more than in ARR/HW's which is kinda funny in a way. (definitely can't blame console limitations..cuz..XI and 1.0 was designed with PS3 in mind, which is why they used that non-MMO friendly Crystal Tools engine to begin with.)

What I can say is that the customization is broad enough so that you can make even "normal" looking characters. Albeit they'll have skin that glows like a summer morning and hair that makes you question your self worth.

I have build up a natural aversion to "free" games.

This is purely bias since i havent played Blade and Soul yet, but the overal quality is usually lacking in some way. Especially with PVP elements included. It's usually something like people who purchase ingame items having a major advantage over people who do not (but ok, that's semi-fair), or basicly the game not being playable beyond the basic elements and the rest being locked behind payment walls. Or an incredible grind fest on top of that too where progress is super slow. And in general, i find the playerbases to be full of young (rude) immature people who cant bring up the costs of a monthly fee. Even worse if there's PVP involved (Archeage comes to mind as having all of that... but Tera and Aion are guilty of this too)

Honestly, the only game i have ever played that's Free while offering the exact same quality as people who pay for things is Phantasy Star Online 2. The only thing that people who pay for it have over people who do not is the ability to vendor things to other players (which is completely unneeded as Meseta gathers up pretty quick regardless and you can buy 99% of all the items off the marketboards from other players regardless). It's still a grind fest however.

Will i try it? Yes, may as well.

Am i going to enjoy it. Probably not for more than a week...

Actual conversation between my husband and I just now:

Him: You know, I think gamer gaters are so rabid about attacking their perceived enemies (that is, random strangers on the Internet) because they're afraid if they don't, no one will make games with boobies in them any more.

Me: Blade and Soul has proved that to be a lie.

Him: What's that?

Me: Google it. Image search.

*type type*

Him: (stares for a few seconds) . . . Gentlemen, our boobies are secure!

Me: Something something "ethics in journalism"....

I haven't been paying much attention to Gamergate lately. Are they seriously afraid it's going to become illegal to make games with boobs in them or something? Because that's unlikely to go out of style anytime soon.

I don't think that B&S would be viewed as oversexualized if people weren't so damn prude.

For what it's worth, I've been doing my part fighting for women's rights. At least, I did walk around with a petition for women to be allowed to go shirtless as men do without fear of being arrested for indecent exposure. I think that counts anyway Smiley: sly

All I can think when I see boobies overflowing from plate mail is how uncomfortable it must be.

I'd also like to mention that you can have huge butts too. Let us not ignore this fact.

I think it's actually the disproportionately wide hips that bothers me the most. Like, okay, big boobs. Yawn.

Then someone showed me a character that had three foot wide hips and small boobs and I went "Uhhh...."

I'm also a little weirded out by the style used in the eyes, I realized, after looking at more screenshots of the cute elf race. Reminds me of ball jointed dolls. #not my aesthetic.

It's mostly Americans lol. (I would say the west but even the EU isn't as OMG SHE HAS BOOBS KILL THE DESIGNERS!) The eyes do bother me kind of but I'm used to that design because after you stare at zbrush for long periods of time, you get used to soulless eyes.

What could you possibly be talking about?

Screenshot

There's nothing remotely nightmare fuel about this. Nope... not a thing.

Actually during character creation, one of the lighting options really makes this face look creepy as hell. I didn't screenshot that. Didn't want my computer to be haunted or something.
