Why not a desktop? more power for low budget and less chance of breakage, esp. for a kid.

(A) He wants a laptop and that's what my sister is buying him.
(B) Without already owning a monitor, OS, mouse & keyboard, etc he's not going to get a desktop in that budget either.

Hey, don't ask me. I was as surprised as you. Maybe if one of those Total War Master packs go on a cheap sale, I'll pick it up for him.

If it's on sale, grab dishonoraburu dispray.

Picked up some new housings for my PSP and 3ds, a r4 adapter, a duel microsd card adapter, and a couple of new sd cards to go with 'em to keep me busy the next few weeks. Got the wifemate a diamond necklace and earrings set. She likes to pretend she's not like a magpie, but she likes the shinies so that should keep me out of potential dog house situations for a couple of weeks. As far as the spawn we got her a mountain of pony, barbie, disney and ninja turtle related toys, clothes that she'll outgrow in a few weeks, and other related stuff to fill the room the tree is enshrined in like a minor deity.

Time out, you found an R4 that works on the 3DS?

It's just for DS backups and not 3DS, but yeah. R4i Gold Revolution. Haven't put it through it's paces yet, since I was forced to put it under the tree, but it "ran" the two DS backup roms I used to test it. And by ran I mean the start up screens started.

And for some weird reason I always mix up duel and dual. Smiley: dubious

Since both require "two things" it's understandable. How new is the 3DS, and do you remember what firmware version is on it?

I just keep my DS for the backup device I have. I don't bother using it or trying to use it on my 3DS.

It's an XL that's about three~ish years old, and a pretty recent firmware. Had to update to get Diance for my pokemans game.

The Steam Winter Sale has begun; Dark Souls II is 63% off ($14.79). By far the lowest it's ever been on Steam, I'm grabbing it as soon as I get home tonight Smiley: grin No sale on the DLC for it yet, though.

I also found out my girlfriend got me a WiiU for Christmas Smiley: eek So I guess I can start looking at games for that too?

Same here. Don't bother with the DLC until "Scholar of the First Sin" comes out early next year. They should drop the price of the Season Pass at that point.

The DLC is awesome but the base game can give you 100's of hours of fun on it's own so there is no hurry.

After several attempts to correct it using a few different methods online, I'm getting frustrated enough to put Dark Souls 2 aside for now Smiley: frown The game won't download; I keep getting a Disc Write Error at about 20-25% completion. This usually means there's not enough space for the game... but as I'm downloading it onto my external hard drive which has 1.51 TB free... yeah.

I've tried:
-Restarting Steam
-Restarting my computer
-Deleting all downloaded content and redownloading
-Running Steam as an administrator
-Verifying the entire download file is not Read-only
-Unarchiving the file that is giving me issues (not sure if it would do anything; it was not read-only to begin with).

No idea what else I can do besides making a new Steam folder on my pc hard drive just for DS2, and no idea if that will even work. Smiley: glare

Winter "Haul":
Transistor (broke down and bought it when it came back as an encore since I'd bought little else with my GabeN Funbux)
The Cursed Crusade
Shadow of Mordor
Castlevania LoS 2
Castlevania LoS Mirror of Fate
How to Survive: Storm Warning Edition

Transistor and How to Survive from Steam, Cursed Crusade from Amazon and the rest from Nuuvem.

Plus some $1 bundle I can't remember where it's from (Bundlestars? Indiegala?) and I terrorized people by sending them Monster Challenge Circus and in return was terrorized with winners like Bad Rats, sZone Online and Shannon Tweed's Attack of the Groupies.

Picked up Shadow of Mordor yesterday for 40% off. I'm in need of a break from DA:I anyways - after getting jiggy with Cassandra, my desire to complete this run is very quickly dwindling.

I'm taking a semi-break from DA:I to start another Backlog Alphabet run for 2015. If you're bored enough (hey, not like there's anything going on here) you can see the crap I've been playing here.
