I had a nice long weekend and managed to get through a significant portion of the game; only have the Memories of Ancients and final bosses left. And the Ancient Dragon and Vendrick, if I want to take them down.
Totally screwed myself by letting Navlaan out of his cage; I found the lever before I found him. And of course, none of the messages on the ground warning me away appeared until AFTER I pulled the lever So I screwed myself out of the best caster hat in the game... d'oh. Other than that, things are going pretty well; have 60 INT/ATN, and a smattering of points in other stats for minimal requirements. Mostly just pumping up HP and stamina now. I'll probably use the Hexer's Hood when not using the Jester's Hat for Item Discovery; it gives 10% more spell casts and 1 INT. I could use a casting speed upper, but my casting speed is around 200 already and suffering from diminished returns.
Went through the Memories of the Ancients pretty quickly; killed the Giant Lord on my second attempt. Took out the Ancient Dragon as well, but it took several attempts to get it right. For some reason I only have 4 Souls of the Giant. I must have accidentally used the one from Black Gulch (which is weird, because I've never used a boss soul yet). Now it's on to Vendrick himself, and my options seem to be "kite him, dodging right or back depending on his telegraphed moves, and casting a spell between attack sequences" or "stay close to him and rotate counter-clockwise." I've had more success with the latter than the former, but still haven't gotten him down more than 1/3 of his max health.

You just need to talk to him to get the item. No need to kill him. Edit: NVM, I misread the wrong part. I think you do need to kill Vendrick towards the end, but it's not going to take that long even with only 4. Just wait on him til you have the other three crowns and you should be high enough level to take him down fairly swiftly.

*casts resurrection! I tried to play Ori, I tried to play Wolfenstien. Then I remembered in some long forgotten dream. (Seriously I had a Dark Souls Dream last night) That I had picked up Scholars of the First Sin.
Made it to the second waypoint where the vendor is in Fallen Giants so far. It's different, cyclops everywhere! Looks purty, getting my **** kicked a bit because I keep doing Witcher 3 commands...
But it's coming back. Started warrior so I could play my favorite build. Dex/Str straight swords + bow w00t. As much as I loved the Witcher 3 I realize now coming back to DS2 how ******* perfect the combat is. Just so amazing. Also **** Bloodborne I keep forgetting to block now. HEY GUY YOU HAZ A SHIELD NOW.

Nioce. Also I finished my SOTFS run. Good times were had. DLC are not changed though so I kind of burned out midway through DLC 2.
Playing way to much Fallout Shelter atm along with some 80% off Risen 3 I picked up for $5. Risen 3 starts off just terrible. But it becomes mediocre and semi enjoyable if you stick with it long enough to get the faction magic.
And since I just decided to go off topic lets continue and say I am now hunting for a Nvidia GFX card bundle that includes Fall Out 4. Nothing yet but man I can't wait for FO4 in Nov hopefully.

Bandai Namco is taking signups for an upcoming server test for Dark Souls 3.
Fans of the series can register online for the PlayStation 4 beta, which will run sometime in mid-October, for a chance to download a version of the game to test. Doing so will help the game's developer From Software determine whether its servers are properly functional.
The "network stress test" is "meant to help improve the quality of the product, and is free of charge to testers," according to the registration page on the game's website.
In addition to ensuring that the game can manage its online capabilities without a hitch, the beta will serve to test the balance of multiplayer action in the game, as well.
Darks Souls players who register and are selected to participate will receive email notification on Oct. 12 and 13. They will then receive a link to download the game.
