I found out today that you can send books to people using Audible. You keep your book, but send them a copy of it. And they get to keep it. And you can send as many books as you want, but each person can only receive one free book. Audible really wants new members. They gave me 4 free credits plus two free promo books before I finally broke down and actually paid for a membership and credits.

I am not 100% sure if it works on existing members. But I think it does.

So, I guess if anyone wants to try it out, I have books 1 thru 6 of The Dark Tower, plus 3 free books from promos. A collection of Drizzt Do'Urden stories narrated by the likes of Ice-T, Weird Al, Sean Astin; A version of Sleepy Hollow, I forget which. I think it was from a promo for the TV series. And one that is currently still an active promo.

Using code "shadows" or was it "shadow"... I forget, You can get a book called Alien: Out of the Shadows. I guess it's because of the new movie. It's a short story though. Only 4 hours long.

Edit:
The audio books are a bit pricey, and you only get 1 credit (book) for your 15 dollars each month. But I did also find out yesterday that Amazon gives discounts on the Audio version for buying the Kindle version on many books. So Dark Tower VI was 42 dollars without a membership. 27 dollars with a membership, but only 13 dollars if you bought it along side the 9 dollar Kindle version. Which I used Bing Rewards Amazon gift cards to pay for, and ended up getting Dark Tower VI for 17 dollars Instead of 27 or 42.

These books are making my cross country work trips a little less boring now.

GOG Connect added a bunch of games if GOG Connect is a thing you're doing.
https://www.gog.com/connect

I'm an Audible member and like it for my hour-long commute. I tend to get through a book in 7-10 days (seems most normal sized books are 15-24 hour audio books) then listen to music on my commute for a while then start another book. My primary complaint with Audible is that the subscription credits only stack up to six and they disappear if you cancel. Your books don't go away, of course, but if you want to even temporarily cancel and four backlogged credits, you better have four book ideas in your head because it's use 'em or lose 'em.

While supplies last, Payday 2 is free on Steam. Apparently, they are giving away five million copies, so there are probably a couple left.

That could potentially keep you busy a while. Think I have 4-500 hours in it. :)

Glanced at the sale today but have not picked anything up yet. Will look closer tomorrow.

Probably thanks to the traffic Steam is getting, 4-500 hours is starting to look like how long it'll be before FO4 is done installing. Smiley: motz

Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD is $2 on Steam as the game will be delisted on 07/17, most likely due to the end of some music licenses.

Edit: As of 07/19/2017 the game is still available for $2 through Amazon, you get a Steam Key.

The Steam Summer Sale has been going on for a while now, and so far I haven't seen a single game I wanted to buy. But, I did see that they have the Steam Link on sale for $2.50 (plus $8.00 shipping). I honestly don't know how useful it will be to me, seeing as I have my gaming PC hooked up to a TV already, but since I had more than enough in my wallet from selling those silly cards, it's free.

If you have Twitch Prime (which is free with Amazon Prime) they're giving away a bunch of games all month. Games are claimed through Twitch and are downloaded through some Twitch client (no Steam keys, sorry)

7 free audible books over 7 days.
https://www.audible.com/ep/s/listenerlove

Each day has a different theme it seems. I don't imagine they are going to be all that impressive. Today's book is Jack London's White Fang. In case you want to listen to that book you read in elementary school reading classes.

With categories like "Enrichment" and "Fitness" I don't have high hopes for anything I will actually enjoy listening to. But might as well have free books in my Library.

Currently still on book 2 of the Reality Dysfunction series. 75% done. It definitely took an unexpected turn, but it's got me hooked.

I guess a 5 dollar coupon for doing a review is better than some Self Help "Wish it, Want it, Do it." book...

And today is a "share us on facebook" for a chance to get a credit. Too much work to actually log into a facebook account on my computer and do that.

It's an actual book today, Maisie Dobbs, but this campaign looks more like "work for us and get paid" than actual free loot.

And today it isn't even Audible related.

Audible members get 25$ off of Echo devices (Edit: Which apparently aren't available cause they are out of stock? I haven't looked, cause I'm not interested in "Smart"-ifying my house with Amazon). Something they put on sale constantly so they get more people to spy on. Smiley: tinfoilhat

Yesterday was a chance to win a trip. Today is "Silver Linings Playbook".

Overall it wasn't all that impressive of an event.
