I grabbed a key. I'm not really liking the look of the game, but I'll give it try.

I cant even get them to send me a verification email to set up an account. Guess this game is dead.
Jumped through all the hoops to set up an account, downloaded the game, created a character, tried to log in and got stuck with the old log in queue at number 556. It's been ten minutes and I still haven't gotten in. This is not a good first impression...
I created an account, tried to log in, got into a waiting queue of about 580. But I got called into work for 30 minutes to fix a stupid problem.
Left the game running while I drove to work, when I got back the game was up and my character was standing around waiting for me to play.
I really enjoyed the game, very Diablo-esque, as to be expected.
I didn't like the "Hold-Alt down to move your cursor on your screen" feature, but after about 20 minutes I got used to it. "Boss" creatures seem pretty interesting, even if they are only larger versions of the same things you just fought. They drop a ton of worthless equipment, but at least you can disassemble them right there without having to find a workshop.
I was a little miffed about there already being places in game to purchase special in game currency from their game shop. Seems a little wrong to have cash-shop stuff during a closed beta. Even if it's not fully implemented it makes a bad impression, that they want to charge users for testing their game/servers...
I haven't tried partying yet, I made the Tech class, the drones zap any enemies around with a slowdown, main thing it does is let me know where they are hiding. With the bots out, I never get snuck up on.

What I find funny about most F2P games is that you can easily end up spending more on them than subscription games. Pay to unlock the class/race you want, since most games put restrictions there, pay for items/energy/health/whatever, pay for some special items, etc., etc., etc.
I mean, they mostly don't even seem like full games if you are a free player. And I mean that purely in a content sense. Like, assuming you are fine with the free options for your character, are you really going to be able to enjoy the game with just the free content (questing, dungeons, pvp, etc.)?
The answer seems to be, far too often, no. Though, to be fair, that's often because you are forced to buy the crap to be competitive, since others are buying it too. If no one bought items, for instance, you might not have to.
My BIGGEST pet peeve, though, is when F2P games require you to pay to use the AH. That's when I say "F*ck you" and uninstall it.
I mean, they mostly don't even seem like full games if you are a free player. And I mean that purely in a content sense. Like, assuming you are fine with the free options for your character, are you really going to be able to enjoy the game with just the free content (questing, dungeons, pvp, etc.)?
The answer seems to be, far too often, no. Though, to be fair, that's often because you are forced to buy the crap to be competitive, since others are buying it too. If no one bought items, for instance, you might not have to.

I played for a few hours and got bored fairly quickly. Maybe it was just the class I chose, but combat had no challenge to it whatsoever. All I did was run backwards and shoot and nothing could touch me. Money was so easy to get as to be near worthhless and gear drops like water from the many boss mobs. My only complaint is that so much of it had to be identified to see it's stats. Identifying tools are cheap and easy to get, so it felt like a needless hassle to have to use them all the time.

I haven't played any of those, lol. But games like everquest and lotro (and, hell, even free realms). The first actually denies you races and use of the AH, the latter lets you use all the classes, but severely limits your ability to function in game (and you need to purchase much of the non-basic content).
