Lear, my warrior beat Dudd at 53. Matter of fact I think he was undefeated.

Any legal issues would be purely civil in nature, law enforcement agencies would not bother even if they had the jurisdiction over the matter.

SCEA could file a law suit but it's highly unlikely that they would bother on such an old title, they would have their hands full with the much more lucrative and widespread pirating and private servers that goes on in PC MMORPGs. Either way it's not even going to catch their attention at such an early stage with a very questionable outlook whether it will ever come to fruition.

last night i was really tired and didn't know what i wanted to do, but didn't want to go to sleep so i put on eqoa. i didn't actually play though -- i somehow ended up reading half the TOS. from what i read and how i interpreted items 0-11, nothing is against emulating it. but from 12 down idk. it did say "you" are responsible and need the right hardware and such to play the game, such a CC/game card, controller, memory card, PS2 and modem, but they didn't word it saying that you may only use thoses. but it did say you must own the game, and a ps2. the TOS said it in a way like it was required, but the bending of the meaning could make it interpretable as saying those are the only authorized ways of playing it.

That's true, ****** Because last I remember as well as you had the system/game owning a emulator/rom isn't illegal. By the way if you want to play check out the blog we just started back up last night.

I see, I just remember glancing over it awhile back and noted the emulation part. If this is the case, then it's easily an arguable conflict if SoE was ever to confront us about it. (Though, I wouldnt post about it on the official forums or anything lol)

What I read about emulation had nothing to do with emulating the PS2. It said you can't emulate the game (ie the servers, not the disk).

My wording sounds like it may have been unclear in a pervious post:
"but it did say you must own the game, and a ps2." = The literal words of the TOS said you have to own a PS2 and the game, but the meaning of the sentence meant 'you need them to be able to play'. If you argument the literal word, you are not allowed to play without a ps2. if you arguement the meaning, then it has no bearing on what you're allowed to play it on.

Hello just signed up to this website to comment on this conversation,

To start i used to play this game a number of years ago and really loved it.

I played on the FT server as a necromancer level 60 named Allforce.

I return once a year to see my character again, but i realize this game will be shutting its severs down one day.

I im very much interested emulated this game on my computer that i just put together it has 4 GB of RAM and a GTX 460 graphics card with a i7 intel over clocked to 3.20.

I've tried to download a program named PSO I believe but failed in understand how to emulate. I im quite excited to see such a thing done.

And would like to offer my help to anyone who needs it, I have knowledge in C++ language and data structures, and i also have both frontiers, and the original EQOA along with a demo disk i started with lol.

I also have two ps2s.

Thank you

Hey guys it's Arathorne over here. I found this forum thread and immediately got interested. I played this game prefronts and for atleast 3-4 years after. I played on MF and CLW and I was recently talking to Sarodare and some others including Stoney about coming back but I am trying to avoid buying another ps2 and all that stuff so this is a great idea. I am going to try and find the EQOA: Frontiers ISO. I use hotfile and megashares if anyone knows where I can get a copy let me know. I actually sold my old frontiers disc but it shouldn't matter because I have my old account i can still use. I see that I would need some kind of DNAS code to actually get online so what can I do about that? I might have an old frontiers disc lying around somewhere. I have bought a few copies over the years. If not what can I do? I would love getting back into the game and would even pay like 15$ to play this on my computer for a month to try it back out. My computer handles final fantasy XII and marvel vs capcom 2 on pcsx2 0.9.7 beta perfectly. My computer specs are pretty good:

intel core 2 duo 3.0 ghz
4gb ddr2 pc667 ram
radeon 5770 1gb gddr5
750 watt psu

Let me know if anything I can do guys or a good source to get the frontiers iso and what can I do about playing this online on my PC? What was that DNAS thing I need to edit Lear?

Thanks

Arathorne 60 Ranger
Darkarathorn 60 Shadowknight
Lilarath 60 Assassin
Charmarath 60 Enchanter

So after reading a little bit more into this it seams that if I get another EQOA: Frontiers game disc I can play it on my pc with PCSX2 0.9.7 emulator and the right configuration. Would this be possible? I use a Logitech Dual Action Gamepad as well. I just want to be able to go online to really be able to play the game and I am online wired directly into a router from this computer.

Let me know Learwolf or anyone that can help thanks!

Even after buying Frontiers you still need to get the DNAS thing. To play EQOA on your computer legally you must own a ps2 and Fronts.

If you somehow find the DNAS thing online, I personally wouldn't trust it, because I'm pretty sure they can see when multiple people are using the same code used to authenticate users to prevent cheating. I don't know how exactly DNAS works, but I know on SOCOM that's the stage you'd get to (and stop at) if they banned your PS2. It could probably eventually lead to your account getting banned.

I got the DNAS Code for Frontiers or will soon. I have my own copy of Frontiers and a non-working PS2. But yeah

EQOA was by far my favorite game of all time, and if somehow people were able to set up a private server to play I would be very happy!!!

@learwolf - Don't know if you remember me, but I believe we ere on the same server. Did you play on Ferrans Hope? SUCH a long time ago, haha my character was Ironice - 55 D-elf faithful. Anyways, I was wondering if you are still using that emulator/ how is it running?

I've quit EQOA,but heres a video of the emulator in action.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akxv_pyYNsE

(The video quality is extremely poor, the recorder I use completely sucks... but the game has anti-aliasing going on, which makes things look way better, though this does not appear true due to the videos quality.)

Using the emulator, with a decently built computer, and a few selectable options in the emulators options menu, it's even possible to exceed the speed of Super Sow (sow times 2)

If this is still an interest to everyone (anyone) please let me know. I have the know how and the technology.

for those of you interested, heres how to start.

Hook your ps2 up to a 4 port router.
Hook your computer to the router as well.
start running WireShark on your computer.
start the ps2 and start watching the traffice.

As you capture your packets, it will start to revieal what request are being made.

I'm a veteran of the game but haven't played in several years. Do you know whether or not it is still possible to create a private sandbox server of the game even though the service has been discontinued? I would like to play again, even if it is single-player.

Hello Sarodare and EQOA players.... I've been trying but I have the dilemma of being unable to get the bios off my ps2 into pcsx2. I burned the ISO's of both versions (original and Fronts) and I can load them, but still the DNAS is a cold hard stop. any info would help.

Can we please do either of two things:

#1 Let's make private servers for EQOA: Frontiers for the PCSX2 Emulator and get it running on PC. Awesome.

or

#2 Convert the game to PC and get it rolling.

I'd pledge for either one hands down Kickstarter if even possible too.

Can we please have a private server for DnD Pools of Radiance on C128? I would really enjoy playing on my c128 with ufc cables to a black and white TV like I did in 19dickety 2.

Drizzt was my main. tyvm.
