Well, my headset that I've been using for the past year and a half broke. It was such a good headset, too.
Anywho, I'm going to be shopping for a new headset soon, and I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations.
I'm looking for something comfortable with a good quality of sound (input and output). I'm going to be primarily using it for listening to music when I don't want to bother others, and when raiding in WoW which means Ventrilo. As far as price goes, something reasonably low is great, prefferably around 30-40 USD.
Any suggestions?

I cannot personally recommend any. The old set I had was a cheap $10 logitech set... it worked fine for about a year then the mic started causing major feedback problems to everyone but me =/. Plus, they made my ears hurt after about an hour. The set I currently own are much better, but I can't find them for you and I'm pretty sure I got them on a shell-shocker so they're probably not usually $30-40.
So my recommendation is to trust the newegg reviews, and don't settle for a $10 headset if you want something comfortable.

The headset I used before my most recent one was a Logitech, and it was crap. I think I got it for something like $30. The mic I had before that was a Logitech, too, and it was also crap. I'm not really trusting of Logitech anymore.
EDIT: At the moment, I'm looking at This. It's in my price range with the current sale going on, and it seems very similar to what I had. The reviews seem great for it, too.

I greatly recommend a Sennheiser headset. I'm currently using earphones made by them, and the sound quality is awesome (bought them for $60 Canadian, at a tourist location electronics store).
Also, look at spending a little more, so you get something comfortable and durable.
I would probably go with these, at that price range.

i think it has less to do with logitech and more to do with the fact that you only spent $30.

It might have been more or less, I don't really remember.
But you'd be surprised what you can find for $30.
Example.
I can already tell those will be better than the Logitechs, if only because in the picture they look flexible and probably won't make your ears throb after wearing them for extended periods.
You can never tell, though. They might be even worse.

And the reviews say so. I would say if the reviews are good for a headset (and you need to read specific reviews to determine comfort, durability, etc.), then it's probably worth getting regardless of the brand. But it's your choice. :)

I use this. Was cheap, but so far I Have had 0 issues with it.

Agreed. It's just that back then, I was an idiot and didn't read any reviews. It was more like, "oh crap, I have a raid tonight, I need to go get some headphones. To Walmart!"
So, I got an email from Newegg today recommending some of the "more popular" headphones and accessories. Most of them were >$100, but one in the email worth mentioning is, oddly enough, the $40 Logitech one that I mentioned earlier. Again, take that as you will but I think it's a sign :P.

ah ha! it wasn't the 30 bucks, and it wasn't logitech either then.
Just noticed the current Shell Shocker is a pair of headphones and was reminded of this thread
