I'm enjoying leveling up my character and professions, but am wondering about a Kinship. Also, I've leveled to 21 so far but haven't heard or seen anything about any instances.
I'm wondering, is joining a Kinship a good idea? Are instances available at my level? Are they a big part of the game experience or just "something nice to do if you get a chance." Would being part of a Kinship help to get a group together or are instances just not something people are interested in?
Also, I play in spurts really, not always on although when I am on I usually have a few hours to spend, and I usually am on for days and then off for a few days and sometimes my RL schedule doesn't get set until the last minute (literally, 4:00 p.m. for the next day, on most days). Would not being online on a steady basis be a problem as far as joining a Kinship goes?
Finally, what's the best way to find a good Kinship? The official forum?

Well there's Grand Barrows which is an instance level 21-25ish. On my server Brandywine I see people forming groups for it quite frequently. There are other instances along the way as well. Usually in LFF channel people will be well... Looking for fellowships and you find out whats in a zone just by listening what they are forming up for.
I just came back to LoTRO myself for some mellow playing and relaxing after a stint raiding waaaaaay to much in WoW. So far I am loving all the changes they have made to make soloing smoother at low levels. Soloing Vol 1 book quests is so great. <3 Inspired Greatness.
As far as kins go, ya sure knock yourself out. I would say the best place to find one thats active and recruiting and does the things you want to do is to check the server kin recruiting forums for you servers over at the Official LoTro forums.
I'm in a tiny freinds and family kin currently and it's nice to be really laid back after grinding away in a raid guild for the last 6 months.
I've got a 41 Hunter and my new favorite 28 Warden so far this round.

Thank you Shoj. I could have written parts of your post myself - the parts referring to WoW raiding and now enjoying the leveling experience of LOTRO. So laid back in fact that I don't remember my server.
Is there something akin to the LFG channel? I don't see many people looking to group for that Grand Barrows instance.
I've always been cautious about joining guilds, now kins, because of a bad early experience in WoW, so I'll just keep soloing for now until I find something.

Which server do you play?
I would say getting into a kinship is a great resource for information, gear, and pals to hang around with in game. If you are on Meneldor, contact 'There is no Fifth Star', send tell to Kitca, Mora, or if you see an officer or one of my alts logged in and we can hook you up.

Tried Landroval and found it a bit immature, maybe it was just a bad day but I got a bunch of spam kin invites and saw some dopey chat in glff. Tried Brandywine and it was too crowded, I had to que to log in.
I also tried Meneldor and found it to be a cozy place with some helpful folks, and it's a mostly EST server it seems. So, those are the three I've tried and my furthest progressed toon is on Meneldor.
I still haven't joined a kin. I don't RP, and while I don't mind a "family atmosphere" I have grown children and I really don't want to have to watch what I say every minute. Not that I spew off much, I'd just prefer an older crowd I think.

Heh, peruse our web page. We are not kids. Although the kin talk is not generally bawdy, we can get loose sometimes.
