I told my brother not to turn on the PS3 until the issue was resolved. It was fun reading all the panic posts.
Just so you know, it appears to be resolved now that the leap year day has passed.

Not I, but another forum I visit some people there were bummed.
But I also have not turned my ps3 on today. I just know last night all was fine around 10:30pm when my brother and I were playing TMNT Turtles in Time.

It was really lame how players couldn't even play alot of single player OFFLINE games. I was trying to play Batman and every time I would go into combat it would pop up error codes about every 15 seconds.

I apparently have one of the models that was supposed to be affected, but I wasn't. I played on the PS3 quite a bit yesterday too, so I was surprised to find out about the issues other people were having.

The problem affected games with trophies(mostly the trophies themselves) causing said errors. As far as I know, most games without them weren't affected.
Even though it didn't affect me, I can't believe that a company like Sony would run into an issue like this. Dealing with leap years is a first year exercise in college. I hope someone in SCEA is ripped on for the rest of his/her career because of this.

It could be as simple as a typo or as complex of someone clearly not knowing what they're doing. We'll probably never know.

One of the devices at my work went through a random leap year related bug as well. I only realized that was what was causing the problem because I was already aware of the PS3 issue.
Apparently 8 out of the 11 "fat" PS3 SKU's have the same chip that caused the Zune players to freak out a few years ago. Amazing that they didn't patch it then.
That being said, I have a physics exam Thursday so my PS3 hasn't been getting any love from me lately
