I know if I studied it harder I might be able to get some of these answers but I would rather just ask. IF anybody has some spare time could you answer a couple questions about the game. I am really interested in the game but I am afraid it will end up as another SWG and be terrible.

I guess my first question is how solo friendly is it? Does it have mixtures of Solo and Group things to do? Can you level all the way up just soloing such as with World of Warcraft, or Everquest 2? I don't actually plan to do that but It is important that there is plenty of solo content to do in between groups.

I guess my next question is leveling. Do you have to complete certain quests just to level up? If you do have to complete certain quests to level are they SOLO or Group? It seems like when SWG first came out you had to actually complete group quests just to level up and that was a big turn off for me. Is it along the lines of Warcraft where you bascially get quest, go do something, turn in quest and earn exp? Or is it more like Everquest 1 where you just kill everything in site to earn your levels?

How long does it take before you have some sort of a ship? I don't expect to have an Enterprise Clone or huge Borg ship on launch day, but do we at least get a shuttle pod or something to let us fly around in space?

I am really interested in getting this game. Would like to try something new but don't want to dumb $50 if its going to be SWG all over again. With these type of games once you install them and play them there is no refunds or selling them off (well legally).

1) The majority of the game so far is soloable. I've pretty much done all the missions solo except for the times the autogrouping kicked in during a mission. The only content that requires grouping is PvP and Raids, even the "random" battles on the sector map can be soloed if you're good enough.

2) You do get missions in order to move to the next full rank, but they normally entail go to this NPC and collect your reward.

3) You get a pretty good basic medium class ship at start which you will use until your reach Lt. Commander from which you can pick 3 different ship types. All the slots on the ship can be upgraded with better gear for your current level and you can supplement them with Bridge Officer abilities and you own. If you can tired of using one type of ship you can purchase a different type from the Earth Starbase.

4) I think there is a trial period available, but you would need to check with Cryptic.

If you don't want to group, make sure to turn off group invites in the social options. All solo content appears to be able to scale if you are in a group.

The only things that you can't solo are fleet actions, which are clearly marked and are given by one guy.

Your first ship, which you get when you start off, is a light cruiser. It can pretty much do a bad job at any role. As Shaowstrike said, at level 11 when you can upgrade to the next rank you get access to the next tier of ships. For Federation there are 3 types you can pick.

Cruisers are the 1st type, they are the ships like in Star Trek The Original Series and The Next Generation. Many people seem to love them but I don't really like them since their turn radius sucks. Galaxy class (Enterprise E) is available at level 31.

Escorts are the 2nd ship type. These are all about the damage. They are frail so you want to blast away the ships as fast as possible. The Defiant in Deep Space 9 is an example of one.

Science Vessels are the 3rd type. They aren't as tough as the cruisers and can't put out the damage of an escort, but they can take out subsystems (shields, weapons, engines, and auxiliary).

I'd suggest if you are on the wall about getting the game to wait a week or two. I hear they are going to do a huge content patch soon. I know at level 42 there are no quests besides repeatable ones.

Actually it's the Enterprise D that was the Galaxy Class ship (from TNG). The Enterprise E (from First Contact) is a Sovereign Class ship which is available around level 51.

Would be nice if they would put out a 7 day demo or something. With a MMORPG game you spend $50 and don't' like it there is no turning around and selling it, your stuck with it.

I just sent you a PM with a buddy key that lets you play for 5 days.

You'll probably want to download the game before you register. Cause I know it took a long time when the game was in beta.
