I think you have this grand vision for what "Auto-aim" is.
Trust me. A console doesn't just magically aim for you.
Depends on the level of auto-aim, of course, but I've played shooter games on consoles where the crosshair would "stick" to targets. I've even played console shooters where the crosshair would automatically move to the nearest visible target. Basically all you had to do was hold down the trigger and win.
That said, I just went out and bought the PC version of MW2. The single player campaign (which is what I play it for) is breathtaking, but painfully short. The plot twists were nice, but how come they always have to kill off your characters? They did it in MW1 with Jackson and the nuke and in this one they just go all out with the killing of protagonists.
I didn't find the "No Russian" scene that disturbing. I'm guessing a couple of hours of Prototype ruined whatever empathy I might share with computer generated civilians.
What did get to me, though, was the later parts of the game, especially the scene in Washington D.C. They did a very nice job on that setting and I like the way they cut to the different playable characters in that moment.
All in all, I'd give it 8 out of 10. If they'd made the single player campaign longer, it would've been a 9, and if they'd fixed the dumb AI where the guy you're supposed to follow won't move until a wounded enemy soldier hiding behind a stack of crates is dead, I'd give it a 10.
