ULTIMA: Scions of Giruvegan
Server: Fabul.
Website: AionUltima.com
Background!
We have lead a guild in almost every major mmorpg that has been out, just not always under the name Ultima, because it did not fit the game-lore. Our most recent game has been Aion: Tower of Eternity, where we were the first Legion (Linkshell) to attain a Guardian rank (highest attainable rank) out of all NA/EU Legions on any server. If you have played Aion then you can understand that it is a considerable "First" to accomplish. Ultima originally came into being to show everyone that a Linkshell can be successful without being elitist. It has been my experience that top Linkshells are always full of players who are condescending, immature and hurtful to other players.
Before reading any further, please know that we have made certain decisions based on the rules and capabilities Square Enix (SE) has currently set on the Beta side. Will they be exactly the same at release? We don't know. Will they be similar? We think so.
So how HARDCORE is Ultima?
In the past, Ultima has had some very stringent requirements on minimum playtime per week, as well as gear and armor requirements for specific classes. However, in FFXIV we are moving away from that mentality. We would rather like to build a great FFXIV community this time around. Especially considering that Square Enix had that intention in mind when designing FFXIV and not just a take-down of "King Behemoth". I hate labeling guilds as casual or hardcore. Look, this is a game and we all play it to have fun. For some, fun may be to hit max level or rank as soon as possible and for others it may consist of hitting max crafting as soon as possible. Is it logical to label one more hardcore than the other? Of course not.
With that being said, we are looking for players that play often; whichever path you may choose in FFXIV. Our Linkshell's average play time per week is up there. We have players from both within and outside of the United States, from countries such as Malaysia, Japan and South Korea. You have to enjoy logging in. It shouldn't feel like a chore. Our guilds have always felt like after hour parties, with members hanging out even if not playing. For myself at least it has always been about building friendships. I think back to previous games and I doubt many members remember who got what from which raid.
So what's the catch?
Have a mic. I can't believe this still has to be stated. It's 2010! If you are logged in to the game, we would also like you to be logged into Ventrilo; just to increase community participation. Not to mention that group cohesiveness is imperative to successful game play.
Have a fun and sociable personality. Anyone can hit max level, but if you are a jerk, no one is going to want to play with you. Ultima requires 100% loyalty and devotion to the Linkshell and then to its members. Of course we recommend you make as many friends as you can on our server and even help out players who are not members of Ultima, but we do require that you favor Ultima's member over non-members, when it comes to any aspect of FFXIV game-play. Ultima's attrition rate is very low, because Ultima definitely takes care of her own.
Have some initiative. Nothing annoys us more than players who want a piggy-back ride the entire time. This Linkshell is not here to hold your hand to the level cap. We all want to play and excel our own characters. Granted, if you have a question please ask, and we will be more than happy to answer, but check the forums first. Everything you need from quest guides to crafting guides will be provided on our forums prior to launch. Ultima players aspire to become some of the best players in the world. In order to achieve this, you have to have a certain attitude towards gaming. If you are one of these players then you already know the type of attitude we are speaking about.
We are not an RP guild as we so popularly and sarcastically advertise, yet we do not discourage it. Also, there is no set age limit. 14 or 40, you will be treated as members as long as you follow the member guidelines. Please keep the conversation clean, or at least not so blatantly vile that a little part of us dies. Remember that we have both male and female members who are from various regions of the globe, with various moral and ethical backgrounds.
But why Ultima?
There will be a lot of good Linkshells in FFXIV, there is no denying that. What separates Ultima from many other good legions is our level of commitment. We have been playing FFXIV since its first BETA opening. We are working on numerous guides, maps and strategies, to save you time and effort. When a Linkshell goes to that extent, that is true commitment.
Furthermore, when you get on vent and talk to some of our members, you will realize how friendly and helpful everyone really is. In fact, we highly recommend that you not even bother applying right away and get to know some members first. Some of us are on the Cornelia server for Open Beta (others spread out a little). We have not yet decided our server upon release.
Ultima's Hierarchy
All members will come in as trial-members. The trial period will last a period of 15-days. During this period if any members disagree with your status, you will be respectfully asked to leave. So it would behoove you to make a good impression and go out of your way to make a connection with the current members. Once you are a member, only the Linkshell Leader may remove you.
We have one class officer for each discipline. In order to get into the Linkshell you will have to speak to your specific sub-class recruiter. Anyone may put in a good word for you, but may not over ride a recruiter's decision or the Linkshell Leader in the over all process. The reason for this rule is that we pick or ask someone to be a leader of their sub-class because we believe they are the most knowledgeable regarding that subject matter.
You had me at Ultima!
To join Ultima, you will need to fill out a simple application at our site, while agreeing with our Linkshell charter. If accepted you will become a trial member, whose trial will begin upon entry into the Linkshell. For further information and to fill out an application please go to AionUltima.com. You may also e mail us at Ultima@AionUltima.com. If you wish to keep your inquiry a secret, you may e mail GodMode at GodMode@AionUltima.com, and it will be kept quiet.
Thank you for reading, and we look forward to being part of the FFXIV community.
P.S. Feel free to come chat with us on vent, regarding any questions about FFXIV or Ultima. We always love discussing FFXIV game mechanics and theorycrafting. You will only have access to the guest areas, so please put (Guest) or something else in your comment, letting us know you would like to speak to someone or be moved to a different channel. Thanks.
