Just tried it for the first time, and that wasn't fun at all.

:/

Even with WG's poor balance, I still enjoyed it. This was just... poorly designed, poorly balanced and boring.

You think it's bad now you should have tried it after launch. It was almost impossible to win while attacking.

Is it possible to lose while attacking now? I feel like LITERALLY everything is in your favor.

^ This.

TB is a total fail. Even losing in Wintergrasp was more fun than TB. Not to mention WG was actually a pvp zone... You know, Blizzard should buff the WG quests to make them suitable for level 85s... then you could alternate between TB and WG every hour. At least you wouldn't be stuck with TB and a crappy WG with only a couple of people in it...

tol barad was fun for like a week

i still miss wintergrasp but i guess i liked pvping with my main alot better in wrath then i do cataclysm.but i dont know, maybe im just tired of the game lately cuz i dont even think ive did much lately in game besides go afk

its to bad though i think 4.2 is gonna be disapointing after a month when people go back to being as bored as they were before 4.2,but i guess theres always other mmos cuz i dont think ive really been into cataclysm since it came out.theres just nothing really to do outside of raid times and when you dont really get picked that often why even play

Yeah like others have said I'm not overly impressed by it. I like the fact you're fighting with people from your server and it's less vehicle-focused then WG was. However having 3 separate simultaneous objectives with a disorganized pug isn't too much fun. Sometimes it feels like I'm going in circles. Smiley: rolleyes

I also wish the whole island of TB was PvP at all times.

I actually hated it at first, but its grown on me. Most games you can predict where the zerg is going, I usually race from huge battle to huge battle and its just epic PVP the entire time.

Kinda pointless though.

So you have 3 nodes that are captured purely by having players in the area. If the entire team on one side congregates there, it will require the entire other team to be there to hold it.

They need to claim 3 to win.

If they destroy the towers, they get 5 or 10 minutes more. Destroying a tower is RIDICULOUSLY simple, because you just grab a tank at one HK and run it over to a tower, where you plant it. They have a ridiculous amount of health, so it's going to take a while to take it down (assuming they left it unguarded, because they might as well).

As it stands, your team would have to SUCK and spend all their time fighting in the fields instead of standing around at a node for you to lose.

The only way I can really see D winning a game is if they ALL go and sit at one node for the whole game, turtling for 40 minutes. Assuming there's no massive gear/skill disparity, they should win, since it will be faster for them to get there after dying.

I'd like a game that actually had SOME skill involved in determining the outcome.

I actually win on D by constantly moving. Offense has to hit and control 3 towers at once. Like I said it turns into a big zerg, and we counter zerg, and we have to read their plays for 30 minutes because like you said they will almost always kill towers. It turns into edge of your seat battles, they come really close to winning at times, and sometimes they do. But we win games on both O and D, in fact my favorite games are the ones we win by defending.

I've never had any trouble getting in. There's advantages to PvPing on the alliance side. Smiley: wink

I swear I only get into like 1 in 5 games that I actually queue for. Our server is so unbalanced, way too many horde.

I was under the impression it is on PvP servers. If I remember correctly, I went there on my fresh 85 Warrior and got chewed up and spit out multiple times. Good times.

On a PVP server, any zone that is not immediately claimed by a factional city nor a sanctuary is contested.

Okay, it seems the Alliance on my server are actually dumb as hell. I just had a TB game on O. And we lost. Why? Because half of them were fighting:

1. At towers.
2. In the middle of the field.

Wtf? I get that defending the tanks might be a valid one, but midfield fighting is never okay, unless you are able to manage several opponents alone (keeping them from nodes).

But there were seeeeveral points where we would have won if just the tower units had been at a node.

[EDIT]

Oh, and they never managed to take down a tower.

Okay, wow. Yeah that is kind of defective...

A lot of times on my server you get two groups moving in circles around the battlefield. Big Horde group comes in and does a 30 vs 5 and takes a node, then moves on to the next one. Alliance comes in with a 30 v 5 and retakes it before moving on to retake the next one. Around and around they go.

There's always a few noble/foolhardy defenders, and a couple people will go for towers in the beginning (they are largely uncontested, and people appear to mostly assume they'll be taken). There's always a few small groups roaming around fighting randomly, attacking the people who enter the battleground late, or trying to take the odd node; but they don't seem to have much success.

Then eventually, often near the end of the battle, one group will catch up with the other and you'll get a major brawl with the winner taking the battleground.

Indeed, some of us Carebears enjoyed the open world PvP of Wintergrasp. We just like our open world PvP contained with fences and barbed wire. :-p
