Maybe I'm a scrub. Or a n00b. I definitely lack PvP skill; the only way I kill enemies usually is by out-gearing or getting the drop on them (if they have any idea how to play).
But man, am I loving low level PvP. For the past two weekends, my friend and I have been running WSG on lowbie characters. It started with just some small pieces of heirloom gear, but now we're getting crafty.
The first time, we ran with a warrior (me) and a disc priest (him). While my warrior had a goodly amount of hp (600 or so at level 14), I was next to worthless compared to his level 11 disc priest. Bubbles were like another life bar, and with some heirlooms, even his attacks were hurting. My warrior could two-shot enemies if I got lucky with crits, but I had no way to close the distance with anyone with a snare (hunters, mages).
We then tried a new composition: he took a hunter and I had a mage (frost). Liked this a LOT more; we led in kills for our team (him by twice of mine, haha). His hunter was even better than my mage, but both were still fun.
This weekend we decided to try Paladins, after seeing a tough-as-nails pally the weekend before. Both went Holy, hit level 10, got some enchants, and queued up. It was... different. Healing was fun, but my heals would only restore 1/4 - 1/3 of my health. In addition, heirloomed attackers could down me even spamming heals on myself. Granted, we were only level 10, but still... Paladins also suffered the same issue my warrior did, with no way to close the gaps. Although I had holy shock and judgment, that's like 140 damage total... and heirloomed players have 500+. Blah.
After every match we usually said "Damn, hunters!" So we're now making hunters, and I'm going all out. Have the heirloom cloak (with 50 armor), chest (with 100 health), daggers (with agility), trinkets for haste, bow (with +2 damage). I'm filling in the rest of the gear with greens if I can find them and enchants no matter what. Trying to decide between 7 stamina on boots of run speed; we'll see (stamina is MUCH cheaper). Don't have the guild rep for helmets yet, unfortunately. I'm also leveling through mining, so I'll get the +3 stamina boost at 75 skill. And I just took a trip to Old Hillsbrad to get Rumsey Rum Black Label for +15 stamina boosts. They wear off with death, but as they're only like 2 silver each... w00t
Anyway, all this planning actually has me excited to play again. Yes, twinking is "cheap" and "takes away the skill"; but it's also a blast. Wading into a fight and being able to hold your own is an amazing feeling that I never really got at 85. And even better? Being with a friend on Skype the entire time! Cheers!
