Maz, your nostalgia is actually a very relevant point with regards to backstab's positional requirement. I didn't rogue in Vanilla, but from everything I've heard it used to hit like a truck relative to health pools and resilience availability (i.e., the complete lack thereof). So it made sense to restrict it somewhat. With today's 100k+ health pools (in pve gear!) and with the gobs of resil on pvp gear, it amounts to handicapping an ability that is underpowered to begin with.
Personally, as a sucker for the lore/feel of the game and as an enemy of homogenization, I don't like the idea of removing the positional requirement. At the very least, it needs a major dmg buff (more than it is getting in 406) so that when I do manage to overcome my latency and general pvp suckiness, I'm consistently rewarded with big ridiculous yellow numbers above my target's head.
If hemo has to be tweaked to compensate, so be it, it's doesn't do ***** anyways.
What do you guys think about some of the alternative solutions proposed, like buffing sub bleeds a la Maz and his kitty cat?
