FFXIV... Definitely did not die.Follow

Remember back when people used to think this game was doomed? I didn't think that, but some folks definitely did.

That said, who could have predicted such a massive population surge three expansions beyond ARR?

Anyway... crazy times! /wave to anyone who still checks these forums.

Hey I popped in because I saw this in my bookmarks... that happens about once a year or so.

FFXIV definitely didn't die. Christ it's so popular right now they had to stop selling copies of the game because the servers can't handle the load.

Every MMO is declared dead by the people that don't like it precisely because they don't like it and not for any reason based on data. I long ago lost count of the number of times FFXI was declared to be dead or "dieing" (sic). And they're about to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Not bad for a game that was apparently going down in flames *checks notes* 15 years ago. And FFXIV just keeps winning awards and getting higher and higher critic scores... yeah, it's definitely on its way out Smiley: rolleyes.

Ok... back to the rock I live under, see you guys next year.

Not dead!
Like Final Fantasy XI, the game specs will be extremely high for the time, but in about 5 years, an average machine can run it on max settings with little to no issues. Tanaka also expressed interest in making a benchmark program available.

Thought about ZAM the other day for some reason. Cool that the forums are still here!

Also, XIV is definitely still not dead. The non-official forums sure are, though, and that's a shame.
