"Eureka is not content that was created for the "relic weapons" alone. It's the other way around, where the new type of game play comes with "the weapon upgrading content". Eureka is a type of content where we want to send off players who enjoy gradually developing/building on their characters.

Eureka is nothing like palace of the dead. It is an instanced zone, but it can hold a large amount of players and you can gather members through /shouts. You can enjoy it with a crowd of players and it's also created so you can play alone. However, the leveling process will be exhausting."

So Eureka isnt built for relic weapons, relic weapons were built for Eureka? Meaning what exactly?

Also if its gonna be instanced them how would timed NMs work there? I mean the way hunts work is because theyre in the open world, you miss it or someone gets it before you you have to wait til the next window. If the lets say 24 hour NMs are in Eureka and theyre instanced, then if one pops and someone gets it before me instead of waiting til tomorrow I could just try an instance that it hasnt been claimed in yet, which would make the house timed NM thing pointless right?

Don't think too hard, it's Diadem 3.0 lol.

Basically what the original JP statement says is while Eureka isn't designed SOLELY for relics, the focal point is relic progression for how they're doing 4.x relics. There will be other activities you can do (Diadem) and you aren't getting a slow progression through repeats (Palace of the Dead) but instead you'll be progressing your character (leveling) and building a relic weapon (and potentially an armor.)

So NMs will work like Diadem, where they're per instance OR on a global timer for the entire instance server. Diadem's instance is one instance where you hop into it while other parties are already inside, so YOUR timer will be fresh, but it may not be true for parties 2-7.

So tl;dr - Just look up Diadem 2.0's info, you'll understand what they want to do with Eureka.

Yeah, for example when you queue into Diadem, you're queuing into an instance that's already been up and running, so a party may be exiting or close to exiting (if they didn't exit after main objectives) and another party may come in behind yours. This is why it uses a separate queue system.

I thought the whole point of instances was to give each party their own exclusive copy of the map so that you dont run into some of the problems present in games where nothing is instanced (for example overcrowded camps in exp grinding areas from FFXI). If there could already be parties in there (or more show up after you enter) then why even be instanced?

Diadem style instancing is considered "Open world instance", since there's multiple parties per instance, so it is still instances but for a handful of parties per. If I recall the main way to "reserve" your own is through queuing from your FC's workshop.

SO according to the live letter digest at the very bottom of the page in regards to Eureka it stated that it wont come out until 4.2 or later and "instead of focusing on upgrading your weapon weve come up with a fun way to upgrade your character" Soooo ummm no more relic weapon? What ever happened to "relic will ALWAYS be a part of FFXIV"?

I don't remember that quote. Even if it's a real thing he said, it's a silly thing to say. If they come up with a better system, they should also include a relic-type weapon just because 4 or 5 years ago they said something like that? Wait to see what they present before you declare the sky to be falling.

Umm it could still be relic with a different/better type system, as long as it involve upgrading a weapon... I mean was the relic in FFXIV ever officially called "relic" nope that was just a word ported over from the FFXI playerbase

It was in 2.x. I don't know if there was a 1.x equivalent.

It was always called 'Relic' Weapon ever since it got introduced in 1.x, the only issue people had was the relic weapon names, since coming from XI obviously you grew used to/attached to certain relic/mythic/empyrean naming.

And actually...yeah since Yoshida said he's sticking with the same formula, it's easy to feel it should be the same thing, but the only real deviation was him stating the POSSIBILITY of "Relic Armor."
