So, in a nutshell, you didn't tank anything worth a damn on Warrior and are trying to use heresay to prove a faulty point.

Gotcha.

It is basic math.

But since you're too lazy, or most likely too stupid to apply basic pre-school Math, let the big bad Paladin do it for you again.

Effective HP

Warrior:
Defiance, +25% HP. -0% Damage Received.
HP*1.25/1.00= 125HP

Paladin:
Shield Oath, +0% HP, -20% Damage Received.
HP*1.00/0.8= 125HP

Equal. Nothing to ***** about yet for you Warriors.

Effective Healing

Warrior:
6250 HP, takes 6249 damage, takes 17,35 Cures to get back to full HP (Counting 360 HP for cures due to +20% recovered)

Paladin:
5000 HP takes (6249 * 0.8) 4999 damage, takes 16,66 Cures to get back to full HP (counting 300 HP for cures)

So effectively, Paladins have it 4,1% better than Warriors. When i said 10% i was being GENEROUS not to embarass Warriors who have been moaning about this for months and also you with your poor comment.

Warriors did NOT have anything worth complaining about.
Warriors do not have anything worth complaining about.
And after 2.1 hits, Warriors will not ever be allowed to complain about anything ever again.

Too busy trying to be rude that you forgot to consider the entire picture of Warrior and Paladin instead of just this small segment of a bigger equation? :/ BE NICE! lol

I think I may level my Marauder now... WAR is becoming like WAR was in FFXI after they increased 2H damage, and all of a sudden lolGaxe became loldualaxes.

Wait a sec... lolgaxe finally had the operation?!?! Wonder what he'll be like post-op.

Just a side observation after reading the patch notes.
Remembering the olden days of FFXI and SE's patch notes saying only "This or that has been adjusted..." I think my brain has imploded. All this info fountaining out of the lead dev is overwhelming and I think I'm Smiley: drunk on it all.

I think they finally learned that deliberately being vague and mysterious about planned changes doesn't make anyone happy.

I remember when lolgaxe first started posting on these forums, when Great Axe really was "lol", and Zam was "Allakhazam"... that's how far back I go.... too bad I couldn't pull up my old account when I tried to when 2.0 came out, I had to start over as Hairspray... of course I didn't realize I was going to name my character Meat Mithkabob at the time or I would have gone with that handle.

Oh come on! It was always fun when they'd release an ability or item without saying much about it. People would then speculate that it MUST have a hidden effect. "Why do you think it has a hidden effect?". "Well what the hell would be the point of releasing something like this this far in the games lifespan, with the difficulty needed to obtain said item!?" Because they can and Tanaka is the greatest troll ever. Well...Yoshinori Ono from Capcom is up there too, not sure which is worse.

These concerns led to the birth of the token system, which we have adopted for FFXIV: ARR. The merit of this system is that, although there is a limit on tomestone acquisition, users are guaranteed to obtain desired items after obtaining a set number of tokens.

What are tokens and where do they come from?

No one knows what they mean by tokens?
I read something on this before.

Took em eight years to finally admit how Treasure Hunter on THF worked.

All the conspiracy theories... all the wild guesses and speculation about the THF needing the killshot, etc - and all a THF had to do was touch it once to apply the effect and stay alive to keep the effect on.

Then they further trolled THF by making successive hits increase the chance of increasing the TH% beyond the maximum TH6 permitted by gear. So it was no longer good enough just to "tag" it and run to safety. Oh no. The THF had to be constantly hitting it for the best results.

Math looks fine Kojiro, but you're not including the fact PLDs have a shield. Coupled with the CDs previously mentioned it's the whole package that made WAR so inferior, not just "naked xxx sucks compared to naked yyy". And it is easily seen in any fight worth a damn that a WAR just can't keep up (or mages run OOM).

Miyazaki is up there too. He had everyone going for a year on choosing the pendant in Dark Souls as your starting gift. He even admitted to it being a prank. X(

Dark Souls pendant mystery resolved.

On topic: this transparency from Yoshi-P is amazing. I wasn't expecting this kind of detailed info for a while; WAR topics everywhere are going to be buzzing with activity (which I love to read about).

I... don't find it surprising anymore.

In fact, Yoshi's been this way from the beginning.

Periodically hot topics pick up or criticisms pile up, or there's some sort of major patch on the way, and Yoshi takes the time to give the players a breakdown.

It seems like we go through this cycle every single time where he's quiet a while working on things, and people are like "Why is SE not talking to us! They never talk to us! Why isn't my most important concern being personally addressed right naoz!" And then Yoshi comes out, speaks common sense, drops the proverbial mic, and everyones like 'ooo, ahh, so fresh! So unheard of transparency and communication!'

Yet for me, this is typical Yoshi. I love it, I appreciate it. I look forward to it.

Edit: Just to clarify, I imply this all as a positive. The man cares more for this game than most other people. It's his baby and he's more than willing to talk about it, and how it develops in detail.

It doesn't have to be surprising for it to still be amazing.

Looking ahead to Patch 2.2, crafters will be able to alter gear designs using a “template” system (official name TBD), giving them yet another role in creating desirable gear.

This is what I got excited about. There better be designs for chainmail bikinis and leopard skin loin cloths.

Nice to see some more options for getting tomes. Unfortunately, what will happen is people will find the path of least resistance. Once they find the easiest thing to run, they'll just do that over and over. Then complain they are board.

I'm thinking this is how SE will implement vanity slots/transmogrification/appearance slots into the game.

I'm normally not one to prematurely react (haha), but these WAR buffs are insane. I'm telling you now if you look at the numbers it is way better than PLD. The extra 10% damage reduction alone combined with better healing efficiency is enough, and more than compensates for abilities that have a 90-120 second cooldown. That's a long time.

And as someone that's tanked for well over a decade in MMOs I can freely tell you they're not. They may be going overboard on the +threat on Overpower, however considering the change to Steel Cyclone it seems they want you to weave that in so it may be part of it.

Secondly, that extra 10% flat mitigation they're going to get? That's what basically finally could equalize them with Paladins in terms of DoT mitigation when you're tanking something where every bit counts, like double Dreadnaughts in Turn 4. They get the extra 10%, Paladin gets the shield procs. Mathematically one may be better in a slight advantage theoretically, but it's real world applied application that matter and I'm honestly still leaning towards shield eeking out (RNG is still a factor afterall).

And no, nothing, absolutely, nothing beats cooldowns and it's why these changes were made in the first place.

That said, it is impossible to craft higher-item-level gear, or gear that is completely equal in power to the highest-item-level gear available.

And that's the reason I plain avoid crafting in just about all modern mmos, including FFXIV.

FF11 actually did this pretty well. A haubergeon +1 was an amazing item that was craftable. The materials were rare and it was hard to make. If they used this system i dont see a problem making crafted powerfull gear. 11's problem was oversaturation of gear because once An item was in the economy it stayed there. Arr does a good job to fix that problem. I see a win-win if they mix these systems together.
