How can I make the High Quality Icon appear on the database?Follow

How can I make the high quality icon show up on the ZAM database? I only get a square, . The actuall Icon doesn't appear. And by the chance you do see the icon when I do this "". Good for you, I do not. How do I make it appear? Is it part of a font pack or something?

You need a Font that has that icon for it to show. That being said i don't think there one available right now.

Its a custom font used by the game. I think it is based on Meiryo but that symbol is not part of that font family. I've extracted the game texture that contains the font here if you want it:

Interestingly, the HQ icon appears to be very similar to the symbol on the Ixal banners:

The interesting part is it is listed in the database. When they refer to a high quality item they always try to list the symbol. I only see the square. I get the standard square that shows up when trying to display a font item I don't have. It happens with ecrilic(sp) writing. If they had insurted the actual icon as an image Id be able to see it because it is an image. Instead I still just get the square.

Now unless it is the creaters intent to list it as a square, someone wanted it to be seen. This does not effect my use of the database at all because if the square is there I know it means HQ. I'm just trying to improve the little things.

On any quest reference or database reference does anyone see the HQ icon? Or do you just see a square too.

I saw someone shouting in Gridania yesterday and somehow they were able to use the HQ symbol in their shout... it was an advertisement for his crafting of Vanya HQ I believe.

I wish I knew how he did it...

The box is displayed because a gylph doesn't exist for that character (U+E03C) in the font being used. The easiest way to display it on a database website would be to have the database display a PNG of the HQ symbol anywhere that U+E03C is stored in the database.

Just drag an HQ item into the chat window. It will add the name of the item, including the HQ symbol. Then just delete the item name so that all is left is the symbol.

Then how do they do hearts, stars, horseshoes, clovers, and balloons?

Ok, maybe not balloons, but the rest are legit.

I'm on a PS3, so I can't drag anything into the chat bar as far as I know (not with a controller anyways)... No big deal, I don't have to be capable of doing this right now, I was just curious.

I think L1 + R3 opens mouse mode. And then you can move stuff around. Not 100% sure what they're talking about will work, but that would be how to do it without actually hooking a mouse up :)

Those are common symbols that exist between many systems. Many of them have alt+ codes making them easy to type: ♥ (Hold alt and press 3 on numpad, then release)

We are venturing a little off the main topic. It's all very good information though. I just noticed that my original post has some microphone with notes on it reloading the squares? That's crazy. I am still wondering why the high quality icon or picture won't show up in the database.

I thought we already explained that. You won't be able to see it because the font that your system is displaying the database info with doesnt have a glyph available for that character (U+E03C)
http://decodeunicode.org/en/u+e03c/properties

The HQ symbol a custom symbol that the game uses whenever unicode U+E03C is used. If you copy and paste (or extract from dat files) any text from the game with the HQ symbol, you will see it as a square or question mark when you paste it into another program.

Which database are you talking about? Xivdb.com? I don't even see where you find HQ items in there, I just see that they list HQ data in green next to the normal quality stats. On xivwiki.com I have uploaded the HQ symbol already. You can use File:Hq.png inside double brackets [[ to display the HQ symbol anywhere on xivwiki.
