Probably worth it for an unique model fishing rod though. Keep going.

Fun fact: the final achievement in this series requires about 11,000 more fish than the Lu (a little over 2x the count for the Lu) Smiley: eek

Only difference is that every catch can count, and not just those damn moat carp.

Seriously, Lu Shang, you needed 10 000 level 11 fish, you could level up to level 15 max on this top (or so) and the rest was just a huge lost of time.

At least in FFXIV, you do this achievement while leveling up to cap.

Spend a lot of time at the same place.

What I meant was in FFXI, you had to catch only moat carp and most of the time, you couldn't level of those moat carps. You were fishing only for Lu Shang

Now, everything that you fish count for the Fishing Rod of Luminary AND give exp at the same time.

Right, yeah it's a bit different. I figured I can catch at most 2-3 fish per minute though so it's rather slow going.

Congrats Wint, that's awesome!

I might try this someday, I just love the fishing in ARR. I'm 50 FSH and have about 1/2 the log discovered. Need to get some materia for my fishing gear too. So much to do! I'm 49 SMN/SCH too and almost done with the main quests so I might "retire" and just fish after that. We'll see.

Thats alot of fish, lol. Can you/will you used the fish for leveling culinary? I know in FFXI you could level both cooking and fishing simultaneously and it worked out great but im not sure about XIV.

I had started on CUL as well but it's just too much to hang on to so I usually NPC whatever doesn't sell at AH. When I get FSH maxed out achievement wise I'll probably go back and start fishing up what I need to take CUL to 50.

That's what I'm working on slowly, Wint. This is like Lu Shang's Fishing Rod turned up to 11. And it's not even a better rod :P

The only plus about fishing (at least while using a keyboard) is that it can be done w/o even looking at the screen. Just rest a finger over the cast and reel in buttons and listen for the splash. On my way to 50 I watched a crap ton of netflix and reading online while fishing.

Very nice. As far as the reward goes. Is there any difference between the Halcyon and Luminary Rod. The stats are the same and it makes me wonder why SE would give you something that requires a lot of time to get

Nice. I haven't gotten around to leveling Fishing yet (soon...) but I was a master Fisherman in XI.
