healer gear drops in dungeonsFollow

#1 Sep 26 2013 at 6:14 PM Rating: Decent
is it me or does healer or even tank gear not drop that much in dungeons. first know I don't have a healer nor will I prolly ever heal. but I have run that lvl 32 dungeon last couple days atleast 2-3 times a day for prolly 12ish total runs and plus all the other dungeons u had to do for main scenario quests and have yet to see any healer drop and only a few tank gear. I understand healers need good gear but I getting tired on losing gear designed for dps to healers.

I proved this earlier today actually.

Did first Amdapor Keep run... bought GC weapon.
Did first Ifrit HM run... my weapon dropped.

I'm convinced this happened because I just bought the GC one. Up yours, random events.

Is the causality chain of gaming.

-> you want it.
-> you will never get it.
-> you don't need it any more.
-> you automatically obtain it.

Sounds like you're playing a mage class DPS right?
What's the difference between heal and DPS gear in that case?
At this level I don't think there is much if any difference between mage DPS and healing gear.
The battlemage set for example is the best equip for healing in the low 30s.

I've seen a ton of Mage gear drop in just about every dungeon I've run. (I'm a 41 Bard) If I were a Mage I wouldn't see any.

Pure random luck coupled with the SE "***** you" generator.

Husband's got covered head to toe in tank gear and his BLM he's levelling has done pretty well in our dungeon running... I've got about two pieces of DPS gear.

It's funny, my friend and I were commenting on how much tank gear drops. He was recently complaining to me about his last run which the tank was able to take every single drop except for two which went to a bard. He plays black mage and wasn't able to get a single thing. I've been in similar runs. I haven't started dungeon running with my 17 gladiator yet but I fully expect that when I do start up 90% of the drops will be for casters Smiley: lol.

Don't feel bad. I am a victim of RNG as well. I've run all 6 dungeons up to and including Haukke Manour at least 3x each. Combine all those runs and all I've received were earrings, belt, head piece, and one weapon. After a few runs, I just move on and pick up the gear I was lacking through quests. The thing that I wish would change is auto tuning the loot table to accommodate party make up, rather than dropping loot for classes that aren't even in the party.

I've received more pink gear that I need doing leves at around level 30 than I have doing dungeons... the RNG on gear drops from chests is just terrible =\

What about the people who are stuck taking a healing or tanking job through a dungeon for gear because their DD job doesnt get a spot for it? I for one got my Shadowbow while playing on PLD. Really, doesnt need to be changed.

It's the same number generator that used to do dyna-xarc before they upped the drop rate with DRK AF2 for everyone, including that lootwhore Hume F Mannequin... until the day you levelled DRK, or needed it to complete a set to storage slip - and it never ever appeared in the treasure pool again.

TLDR - whatever you're wanting to drop... won't.

So maybe to alleviate the disparity between tank and healers versus DPS, they need to crank up the DPS gear drop rate to twice as much. Then the healers and the tanks will have to run the dungeons many more times to finish gearing, whereas the DPS can run it once or twice and be set! Smiley: lol

I've had good luck with drops for tank. Had the whole cavalry set after about 2-3 runs of Brayflox. But I have seen runs with no tank/healer drops. I think the odds are pretty fair.

The moment I stopped worrying about getting the relic weapon, Garuda's Van dropped, twice in a row. And then I get invited to a titan party.

THIS!! Ive run Stone Vigil 18x trying to get the Lance from boss... got full set of Pink DD gear but never the lance ; ; yes 18 no exaggeration. It came to the point where it was the easiest dungeon to get into so after the 10th try I went just for the easy xp . So basically when I go again just to help a friend Ill get the drop now that I'm 50 lol

Or more and more decide not to be tanks or healers.

You want tanks and healer reward them for doing those jobs.

Lol and I got the blm rod my first and only run through stone vigil when I didn't even know a weapon dropped off of the boss. But it took me 15 tries to get ifrit and 20 tries to get garuda weapon.

People don't decide to be tanks or healers instead of DPS because of gear drops, or vice versa. (Invites? Yes.) It's because the two roles tend to attract certain mind sets. Tank types love being the hero, being the one to protect others from the monster, and gain their satisfaction from keeping everyone alive in the end. Healer types prefer the support role and helping the party perform as smoothly as possible.

I tend to gravitate toward healing and support roles in MMOs and will stay with them despite the crappy lack of gear drops. (Mage gear really doesn't drop that often in dungeons...)

Back when we kept records in Dynamis in FFXI, we were not suprised that the #1 gear drop we received was the utterly completely useless WAR mask in Windurst. We got five of them in a single run one day even before they adjusted the entire system. It wasn't just a psychological "hey we seem to get a lot of these things" - no, we really did get a higher than average number of it.

I'm DPS, I like to beat crap over the head. Smiley: schooled

But I do have to disagree. As DPS I have greeded so much cool paladin gear (full set of ak armor and ifrit sword) that I am working on leveling gld and eventually paladin as my second job. So gear drops were the #1 factor for me in deciding that role. I dont know how good I will be, I just want to see how the armor looks on my dude.

I do them for the challenge not to be a hero.. DD are just too boring just hit attack pretty much...
I am most likely done with gladiator though because the targeting is horrible in this game... I will stick with healer even thought hey dumbed down the class major from FFXI.. At least targeting is easy for a healer.

I'm WHM and my first run in Brayflox I got a ring, hat, and shield.

The second run, the exact same hat dropped.

But I've also done plenty of runs where it's totally dry. Just luck of the draw (RNG).

:)

Funny how things work out with drops. I am a healer and I pretty much have full sets of tank gear from 1-50. I have no plans of ever tanking as well ; p Anyway I just keep it all in storage for a rainy day
