Well, it was fun while it lasted. ARR has shaped up to be the awesome game I was hoping for, but unfortunately SE never got back to me about my situation. It has been two weeks since my account was compromised while I slept. I filled out the forms, sent messages, and spent around 5 hours on hold during my 3 attempts to contact them by phone. I guess they're just really busy with a new game launch and don't have the resources to devote to customer service at this point. I had a great time chatting with everyone in the FC and leveling my Miqote in Eorzea, but it doesn't look like I'm going to be getting my account back. It was nice speculating and sharing the anticipation with everyone here on the forums over the past 3 years, but lurking here and reading the threads just makes my heart even heavier, so I'm just going to say goodbye. Have fun everyone and enjoy this great game.

I'm going back to WoW as it's my best option outside of ARR. A couple weeks ago I didn't think I'd ever step foot in Azeroth again, but it's always been good to me and I haven't been left with much of a choice.

Thanks again guys! Smiley: flowers

I've got the GF playing now! I added a 2nd account to my login, and just told her it was part of my account. I've got no problem paying for a 2nd account, it's just easier if she doesn't see the bills :D

That's sad. Sorry to hear that. You have contributed to many conversations around here and it's been fun. Sorry to see ya go. You seemed resigned to your fate but not overly bitter. Surprisingly. I would be pissed, and I'm sure you are quite sick of hearing about the dam token by now.

For the record, you story was one that pushed me into finally registering mine. Probably not the best consolation prize, but posting here may have saved others from the same fate, so thanks for that.

Perhaps SE will eventually get back to you, or you may decide to start a new character and play again at some point. Many of my friends started fresh with ARR and are already working on relics (they passed up my casual butt in about one month!). It wouldn't take too long to get back in the saddle so to speak.

Whatever you decide, your ZAM friends will be here to welcome you back at any point. Hope you have fun with whatever you do next.

I'm glad it helped you make the decision. My WoW account was only compromised once in 6 years and I got it back so easily, I just never thought the token was that important. I will definitely be investing in one for my WoW account just to avoid the chance.

If you think that I would buy gil in a game where it's practically useless, I don't know what to tell you.

You can get the digital one for free if you have a smart phone, if I am correct. And honestly, it's insane the lengths people go to in order to acquire accounts at times. I am glad I slapped one on my account ages ago. I just need to ensure my girl does the same.

That really does suck. I dunno at the very least, just wipe the account clean and you start over. I mean if they can't get your old account back then they could at least give at you another. Just a waste they don't do something for you so you don't have to leave.

They literally said in the email that if I try and start another account, they'll ban that one too. That is the way they handle all compromised account issues, even if it is a completely obvious case of a real fan and player that got screwed. That's what hurts the most, really. I've played Square's games since I was 4 years old, that's 25 years I've given them. It's a shame that they don't even look in to the case. I actually have an brand new CE box set, but at this point I'm just going to sit it right next to my collection of Square RPGs from NES to PS3. I still love their games, music, and art. I'll always have a place in my heart for Square and their creativity. I am done with their customer service however.

I was careless with my account security, and this is the repercussion unfortunately.

I'm sorry to see that this has happened; both the theft of your account, and the lack of progress being made towards getting it back into your hands. Smiley: frown

I hope that you are able to play once again one day, as I recall you were around quite a bit in the Free Company. With everything that's gone on in this game's progression, Squeenix can't afford to ignore "loyalty" for very long, so hopefully you're able to recover your character some day (soon). Take care, otherwise...

Just curious, how would they know it was your account? I can think of more than one way to keep any of your info from being the same.

Sorry to hear that this has happened. Customer service right now is atrocious at best, but realistically pretty much non-existent. For me simply finding a creative way to subscribe to this game proved to be a tremendous challenge. I can't begin to imagine how difficult this would be dealing with SE customer service. I had my WoW account compromised once before the whole security token era and I had my account back and fully restored within 24 hours.

Ok, you personally know how i feel about those who do not take the proper precautions as we have exchanged words before on the subject. Yet, even I feel this is, to quote my drill sergeant, 'killing a cockroach with a bazooka'. This just seems so extreme that it is really sad on SE's part. So basically, you either don't play the game you paid for, or you rebuy it? Com'on SE seriously?

****, if it comes down to that, send me your paypal address and i'll send ya some money so you can rebuy that damn game. If SE won't help a player then I will.

Thats a Sad story, but i wonder how you Acc can be compromised if you dont use bots, keep your PC Cleand and dont buy stuff on Gill Sites and so on.

I only get once hacked and that was in WoW after i give my login Data to a good friend of mine. The funny thing they dont hacked it on my pc, it was the fault of my friend because he was to stupid to keep his PC clean.^^ Anyway i got my stuff back in less than 24 hours so it was ok. ;D

Oh and i never used tokens in any mmo and neverget hacked by myself except this once (didnt know my friend whas that stupid XD).

But well i wouldnt support a comapny that threats his customers like that. I mean common, they will bann you acc instantly if you make a new one? What a sh*t is that. If they dont work on their Customer Service, Boots, Hack, Spam and god know what else this MMO deserves to be big fail.

Hey man, don't take this the wrong way. The game is only a month into launch... and if you only got 2 weeks into the game, my advice to you is really to just start over with a brand new account.

You're acting as if you lost 10 years of investment into a character. The reality is people are getting to level 50 in 2 weeks, if you just start over now while the game is so new, you'll be fine... you won't be behind, and I believe you'll be much happier.

Just my $0.02, take it or leave it... I think we'd rather see you stick around and play with us though.

I don't know, I agree with the principal. Full game paid for and now because they're unresponsive a new full game is going to need to be paid for? With the threat of future bans when the first one was unjustified and they never dealt with it? While at the same time botters and hackers are running rampant in the game still. I could see if they were so busy clearing them away that a couple people get missed, but how are they not clearing up the ones currently doing it while at the same time ignoring the customer service side for legitimate issues?

Sucks, but like I said, I understand the principal in the decision.

I really wish SE would do something about their customer service. They made a great game and are letting it down by dreadfully flawed business practices.

As anyone can tell from my character link in my sig, i am still pretty damn new to 2.0 in the terms of progress and level. I may have only 'invested' this little bit of time into my character, but, I'd be furious if I had to start over. Loss is loss regardless of the amount. I put what little free time i do have between working full time and schooling full time into my character, and to lose that would be so irritating.

I do agree w/ HS though that you should stick around.

Umm...given the structure of this part of your sentence, you could have? Also, is "whinners" a combination of winners and whiners?
"Maybe its best this dude leaves" Hmmm...I'm sure there are some who think the same of you.

What makes it even funnier is that you actually edited this.

Let him go back to WoW, don't need whinners here. Its sad that his account got comprised but maybe you did something wrong to lead to that. I never played WoW, just FFXI and my account was never ever hacked or comprised where I had to fill out forms etc. Nor did I never visited any site that would attempt or potentially put my account at risk. Maybe its best this dude leaves, don't want your account hacked again. I don't know the Gold situation in WoW but there are tons upon tons of sites that offer gil at dirt cheap prices dude to compo. I wouldn't be surprised if you buy or attempt to buy gold...ahem I need gil.

It seems your acct was fresh too so its odd that it would get hacked so quick. Gil sellers have nothing to gain from a low level char...wrong..they use it shout the syht outta it in cities. There were even WoW players asking on these forums if its ok to buy gil because in WoW it was a norm for them. So I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you try or bought gil that led to this.

Ok, i'm not entirely sure how to take this post. I agree with you on the fact that people need to take responsibility and safe guard their accounts. But what SE is doing here is completely uncalled for, the player has lost their account due to their own fault, SE is punishing them by locking it down and deleting it. Call it what you will, cause and effect, crime and punishment. But to not allow the proper owner of the account to create another account, after they have clearly learned their lesson with account security, is just inexcusable.
