Thank you Error 601

So, apparently the same freaking card I used to pay for FFXI isn't good enough for XIV. Apparently the Visa I use to go on European shopping sprees is also not good enough for FFXIV. So, now I get to sit in line until hopefully before midnight tonight (in the UK) and hope that whomever I speak with is mystically less inept than the system they are being underpaid to babysit.

Way to champion the cause of the monthly billing cycle MMORPG, SE. Why didn't you stick with the Square-Enix account system again? It seemed to take my money just fine. This annoys me far more than a little server congestion, because you broke one of the Commandments of doing good business. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I read somewhere that error is due to you paying with credit from a region that is different than what you are in.

Oh man, they really need to rethink that one. Hopefully, the CSR I speak with will be helpful.

They're pretty mean about regions. In XI, people often had issues installing expansions because they lived in the EU, purchased the original core FFXI from the US and thus had an NA edition, and then purchased EU expansions... which they could not install.

I am now number 69 in the queue for the same thing. The VERY SAME credit card worked FINE on my husband's account. But noooooo, not on my account. I can't even buy crysta to pay with. :(

Bugger that! Now I am officially spooked. Maybe I'll point to this thread in my chat and be all like "See, I really am me. I've been me for a while. Please take my money!

-Love,
The real me"

I'm American, and my Visa card wouldn't work for some reason. I had to use PayPal to buy Crysta, maybe try that?

Yeah, one person at an HMV I went to suggested that I might be able to find one of those Ultimatewhatever cards at GAME and load up the account that way. I'd much rather it just be taken out of a card if I can. Funny how all this IT stuff that is supposed to make our world more convenient and user friendly walls up and becomes counter-intuitive these days.

It may not be a region issue. I've been using my JP Bank's Visa for this (v1.0 and v2.0) and FFXI for years...I'm using NA client for both and my region is forced to NA. Even through all the PoL/SEAM and now the Mogstation changes, I've not had any issues. One thing to check on your end, has your CC been re-issued recently? i.e. because it was going to expire. I know I've almost done a "Opps" a couple of times by forgetting to update either SEAM or PoL when I got the new card.

Just a thought.

..Wat?!

I'm incredibly conflicted about this. I pretty much just got the middle finger and it is 20 minutes til midnight here. I really want to rip someone's ******** wide open right now. Going to try to get some sleep.

I still haven't been able to pay as well. This seems to be a very widespread issues. We as customers shouldn't have to develop think tank threads to devise creative strategies to pay for a product. It's just ridiculous. They need to get Mog Station sorted, it is quite obviously not operation at what one would deem to be a functional level.

Story of last night:
Quote:

Order Description: Square Enix Crysta
Invoice ID: blahblahblahbleeblerbleeblah
Date: Sep 19, 2013
Time: 14:40:18 PDT
Status: Canceled

The seller canceled this payment, and the money has been returned to your account.

So, quite literally, I was like "Take my money" and they were like "le no".

One does not simply feed the Chocobo...

I have 3 friends that wanted to come back to FFXI a couple of weeks ago, we were going to make a static. 2 of them were totally unable to re-activate their accounts and start their subs to play. FFXI and FFXIV have the same CS team and same account system, they didn't even update it for this game they just used the one from FFXI.

Square have the most stupid and horrible payment, account and CS systems I've ever seen. It's not that they don't want our money it's that their systems suck so bad and their CS teams have so little interest you can't give it to them.

This is why I was forced to retire from FFXI.

The technical explanation I got from a coworker is that it is likely the Credit Cards are rejecting the charge because the billing system they are using doesn't ask for your address information. Most reputable credit cards require that you put in your zip code as a means of authorizing the charge.

This billing system is too ghetto for my cards. Why they refused my Paypal payment for Crysta though, is just beyond my capability to comprehend.

You could call the bank and give them explicit permission for the charge and then try running it again.
