Already a way to game afk timerFollow
Just leave your character in mid crafting pose or mid gathering pose. Apparently the afk timer views sitting in these states as being on and active.
What is the point of not logging out though?
I mean, I understand stepping away for an hour for dinner... But why not just log right back in?

Especially now that the worst thing that will probably happen is you get queued at number 8 and have to wait an extra 30 seconds to get in.
Then again, it's a pain to have to re-enter token authentication every time!

Sigh its not like its that complicated to rubber band a controller to run in circles in your inn room. There are 100000s of ways to cheat the afk timer, but none are worth it as at most i have waited (in a queue) 2 minutes.
No more hours of mashing num-0 to try and log in. I will gladly log out in an inn/sanctuary every time.
Now someone explain to me how camps (camp dragon head/tranquil/bronze lake etc) are all sanctuaries and you can craft out there while regening rest exp, but only the inn's in cities grant rest exp!

Finally, I'll be able to leave my character on all day long! That will allow me to... stock up additional RMT /tells? Run my computer nonstop for no advantage? Save me 15 seconds of logging back in another day? Yes! That's it -- the last one!

Semi off-topic, but I've noticed a drop off in RMT /tells and /shouts lately. It's been like 2 days for me with zero shouts. I wonder if the RMT were banned or they just had to pay for the accounts from 1.0.

Probably the latter, bunch of hacked 1.0 accounts.
It's probably because SE broke their bots. It will take the RMT guys a few days to get their bots working again.
they covered this issue in the XIVnation live show this week about how to get around the afk timer is to do anything other than stand still for 30 min. Its pretty funny. I think if they ment to break bots than they needed to mkae it so if your char never moves even while crafting/gathering/fishing it would boot you. But than again they would just add a jump into there script every 29 min >.<

I noticed that too... I spent all sorts of time in Ul'Dah last night and only got one tell.
I assume it won't last, but I appreciate the break.

The problem I ran into the other night was that I queued up for an AK run, which has a very long wait time. I decided to let my character sit there waiting while I played another game. After awhile, the music from my PC changed to the log in music which, means that the afk kick booted me while I was waiting for the duty finder.
The afk timer needs to be able to recognize if people are queued up. If they are, then don't boot them for simply waiting for their turn. Boot them if they miss their duty finder pop-up.

I'm on Excalibur. Play every night, starting at prime time. Never seen a queue higher than 10 since the first week of crazy.

I'm on Excalibur. Play every night, starting at prime time. Never seen a queue higher than 10 since the first week of crazy.
I had a queue of 79 last night at 7pm pst, it took roughly 10 minutes so you are lucking out.
10 minutes is a laughably short time to have to wait for anything. go do the dishes, put laundry in, rub one out, whatever. not a big deal.

I'm guessing the reason there are less bots is because the free trial is over.
