The game will last 12 months, will it last 12 months for all players? No not at all we are already seeing the signs of people who simply blitz content for the sake of bragging rights and epeen attitude. For these people they are crying the loudest and hardest and will be bored and move on.

To those people I'll be happy to see leave. I consider them nothing more than cancer in games as they typically bring poor attitudes and over zealous elitism attitudes.
I hope SE takes their time and releases QUALITY content over Quantity of content.

To me I've always enjoyed more of the social aspect and the story aspect from FFXI, it was about playing the story with friends. It was a lot more enjoyable that way and what kept me playing FFXI as long as I did.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

Depending on when he played, I could see that. Leveling could just be that irksome in the old 2-3k EXP/hr parties with pre-adjusted post-50 level curve if you're weren't an in job while those in jobs were in short supply for parties. "Just start your own" was never a guarantee for success, either.

It just seemed odd to me that he would support a post that said:

when he quit pretty early.

Not a knock or anything, just struck me as odd Smiley: dubious

I played FFXI off and on since before the PS2 version was released and I didn't hit my first 75 job until years later. I don't remember when exactly, but it was after level sync had come out. Between fishing, crafting, trying out different jobs, running story missions and helping friends with quests/missions or whatever else my linkshell happened to be doing at the time, I never felt I had nothing to do despite not being max level. If I'd stayed that way later on I may have felt differently since it didn't seem as many people were into that sort of thing in the later years, but in the early years I had multiple linkshells full players of any level who used to just play w/e level they were, maybe they'd join exp groups for a few days and then go back to other things and stay the same level for a month. Some of them probably never hit 75 and I bet they still consider it a rich experience.

I've got 20 jobs at max level and I still haven't run out of things to do.

My little static of remaining friends tried to low man Absolute Virtue last night (after mowing through Jailer of Love.) We got him down to 52% at one point! Then Meteor... and all was lost. Then we went and did five King Behemoths for ***** and giggles, because you can do that now. No D. Ring, naturally.
