The following are details regarding the maintenance operation that occurred on Sep. 11, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 12:55 a.m. (PDT).

[Countermeasures to Relieve Heavy Server Stress on Duty Finder]
This maintenance implemented countermeasures to further relieve heavy server stress on the Duty Finder and instance-related Worlds.

With this measure, group matching is now split among the following three groups for the selection process.

- Japan data center
- Group 1
Aegis/Atomos/Carbuncle/Garuda/Gungnir/Kujata/Ramuh/Tonberry/Typhon/Unicorn

- Group 2
Alexander/Bahamut/Durandal/Fenrir/Ifrit/Ridill/Tiamat/Ultima/Valefor/Yojimbo/Zeromus

- Group 3
Anima/Chocobo/Hades/Ixion/Mandragora/Masamune/Pandaemonium/Titan/Asura/Belias

- North American/European data center
- Group 1
Adamantoise/Balmung/Cerberus/Coeurl/Faerie/Goblin/Midgardsormr/Odin/Sargatanas/Siren

- Group 2
Behemoth/Diabolos/Excalibur/Famfrit/Lamia/Leviathan/Lich/Shiva/Ultros/Brynhildr

- Group 3
Cactuar/Exodus/Gilgamesh/Hyperion/Malboro/Moogle/Phoenix/Ragnarok/Mateus/Zalera

*Groupings are determined by balancing levels, number of people, class/jobs, and adjusted so as to help provide a smooth matching process.

[Increased Number of Instance Worlds]
The Duty Finder and quest instance battles are handled internally in their own separate Worlds. In addition to the above measure of easing server load by splitting the selection pool amongst the above groups, we have also increased the number of instance-related Worlds on which battles occur.
This measure allows the facilitation of more instances, decreasing cases in which players must wait for an instance to become open after they have already been matched by the Duty Finder or the quest instance battle has been initiated.

[Addition of New Worlds]
We have implemented the addition of the following Worlds.

- Japan data center
Unicorn/Yojimbo/Asura/Belias/Zeromus

- North American/European data center
Mateus/Brynhildr/Zalera

Please note that, upon first opening of the new Worlds, we predict a concentrated influx of characters in the low-level zones of said Worlds. Therefore, until characters have evened out and dispersed into the various zones, we will be implementing Character Creation and login restrictions. Please be aware.

In addition, as a result of splitting the group matching for the Duty Finder into 3 groups, we are now able to expand our services easier. We will continue to monitor concurrent logins and the increase of new players in each World and, if needed, periodically add new Worlds starting from October.

We will announce details regarding this at a later time.

[Implementation of Auto-Logout]
Because there are so many users attempting to login even when the maximum allowed number of concurrent logins has already been reached (in other words, when login restrictions are in place), we have now implemented an auto-logout feature. In an attempt to provide as many users as possible a chance to login, characters that appear to be inactive for thirty minutes will be automatically logged out of the game.

[Login Restrictions Directly After Maintenance]
In the time period just after maintenance has completed, we predict a rush of characters logging in simultaneously. In order to prevent any technical difficulties due to this login rush, we will be temporarily placing severe login restrictions. These login restrictions may occur frequently, lasting from a few minutes to ten minutes; however, restrictions will be lifted in a gradual manner as login status is carefully monitored. We ask for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Finally they have added auto-logout, now the servers might not have as bad queues!

Oh ****, its been 28min... I need to go hit the space bar...

Hopefully sure, but I've not even seen bad queues this entire week on the server I play on.

also in before: JP Group 3, all of them but Titan players, are bad.

I'm sure by the end of the day we will see "How to get around auto-logout" Threads.

I think a 60-minute logout timer would have been better.

Some one also mentioned that the AF armor obtained at level 45 with not be as easily obtainable... I cant seem to find any information on this... Is this true and if so does some one have a source and what has changed. Thank you.

No reason to stay logged in now, unless you like to put extra wear and tear on your equipment.

I'm a returning 1.0 player, I started playing FFXIV:ARR the same day they added servers (week or two ago). I've never had any log-in problems ever, I've never seen the 1017 error. I'm on the server Hyperion which still has character creation suspended, which means it's probably one of the more populated servers. I play during peek hours. Is there really a need for 30 minute auto-logouts? Even though I never had the 1017 error, I still wanted auto-logouts, though I wanted the auto-logouts to happen after and hour or two, but 30 minutes? Every time I go get a snack I'll have to log back in, so annoying...

Oh well, guess I'll have to deal with it. Hey, it could be worse, at least we aren't playing 1.0 anymore... Remember those grass raptor grind parties? And the lack of bosses and dungeon? Remember when we didn't have an auction house? I remember when the game first came out, the ONLY content was leves, and they were a lot worse back then. So yeah, definitely be grateful of what we do have xD

Since that BIG maintenance that upgraded server capacity, I haven't had a single problem logging into the game. Ultros has had at max 5 people in the queue even during prime US evening hours. There's no more reason to afk yourself forever, and I have to imagine that adding this will let SE open up resources to unlock character creation on this and other servers again.

An hour would have been fine for the timer. Why can't SE ever do things that are standard MMO practice on this game? Lol. Even XI's timer could be set up to an hour, or not at all.

I'm glad we finally have one though, and maybe it will help them to get some solid figures on logins so that character creation unlocks can happen.

Am I missng something here? The maintenance for the maintenance should have been over by now, and I haven't seen an extension:

http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/6a980067357b2157816f713b9a47f23bcd2515c0

I see the latest regarding the JP center as well:

http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/news/detail/02213c6e4d895a246f954f68dc6527615d3d1fbb

Yet, I try to log in and still get NA/EU data center as unavailable. Anyone found another post regarding this?

EDIT: Nvm, servers came up like a minute after I posted. XD

Excluding duty finder, I agree.

I've hit queues all week but never more than 5-10 deep. No 1017s for me at all.

Now, I did have a few bluescreens but as always I suspect Windows 8 first. If their next big Blue release doesn't fix it, I'm going back to Windows 7.

I'm glad there is an auto log out... don't even care if it's 30,40,50,60 min. No reason you need to stay on, you can't do Bazaar stuff anymore, I understand sometimes ppl gotta get up and go do stuff RQ and don't see it necessary to log out and i'm with you on that, but it's maid for those ppl who like to afk for 16 hrs in front of the summoning bell (Grrr) alot of ppl asked for this and now some are unhappy because it's too short... IDK what to tell ya

I find that turning the camera around away from the bell and then turning back towards the bell will make all those afkers disappear for a second so you can select it easily.

Zooming all the way in, or going to first person, also helps. It won't count characters not in your current field of view, and won't display them.

I wonder if Auto-run will count as continuous player input.

I don't understand why people care about an afk timer, WoW had one, I never had any problems with it, honestly if your afk for 30 mins why didn't you just log out in the first place, honestly this should have been implemented from the start, hell even netflix has an afk timer. Like really what is so important that you HAVE to stay logged into the game for 16 hours.

oddly, I never found first person to help during a lagged out Svara, for instance. Even more oddly, zooming way out and rotating camera to an overhead view did help. weird.

Could be useful as a burn-in test for a system as well. I considered leaving the game on overnight tonight for just that purposes (gotta make sure the thermal paste is good and melted on that processor, dangit!)
