Like the topic said. Small public notice, but it will help tremendously to stop RMT from overrunning this game. Right now they're making a lot of new characters to do the starting quests at all the guilds, these give massive amounts of crystals. Which they can sell for about 5000 gil per 100 depending on what you have. It's pretty much what they did in 1.0 but then without having to farm monsters for it.

The only thing they havent grasped yet is to actually put some thought into names. If you see cdfgcdfgdfg or something similar offering crystals for 50 gil that completely undercut everyone else, please take a small personal sacrifice and purchase crystals from a friendly named market character for 52 gil each. It wont hurt you much, but it will pretty much cripple RMT income if we all do this. (or just buy from the second or third cheapest)

They wont have too many characters (other than the ones they pilfered from honest players) that are past the Ifrit stage to get market access, so every little bit helps here. And even on those, if they make a second market character, it's usually keyboard smashed names anyhow.

Thank you.

What happens when they start using non-face-smash names, or names of retainers from hacked accounts?

Well, then we would have atleast given them two weeks worth of trouble and meager incomes, wouldnt we? Seems worth it to me.

I once knew a guy who was absolutely against buying gil. He would insult people who he knew had and would mpk bots and gilsellers when he could. But you know what? He bought gil. More than once.

These guys are selling because people are buying, even if they say they aren't.

Always been a sore subject to talk about in the XI/XIV community, mainly it seems the NA side, when it comes to buying gil.

I know people who have bought currency for online games (XI and WoW). The risk is getting banned, a smart person won't lose their account back to the G.Seller, due to SE seeing a massive amount of gil show up on an account (I've always assumed they can track 1s and 0s around their game, across the net).

To oddly quote the Goblins for WoW, "Time is money." Some people just don't the personal time to invest to make currency, these people see no issue with paying someone else for their work. Others have all the free time they could ask, and are able to split between farm/make money time and play time.

If I go to the market and see something selling for cheap, sorry, but I am going to buy the cheapest thing on the market to help me save and make my gil last as long as it can before I have to stop playing and enjoying the game and start farming to make gil to continue on.

While i think your intentions are good, not all keyboard smash retainer names are rmt. I can safely this because i have 2 keyboard smash names on my retainers.

Same my retainer is CRF (wifes initials)!

Thing is, with a miner/botanist, you can get 12 crystals per stone/tree/etc and get 100 crystals in litterally 10 minutes tops.

The issue with FF14s economoy at the moment is 2 fold:
1) People selling stuff on markets for x10 what a vendor is selling it for (nothing new)
2) People trying to rush to 50 on everything and actually paying that x10

Look up brass ingots on your server.
You can make the ingot for free if you mine the raw
You can make the ingot for 24 gil if you buy the copper/zinc from guild supplier
You can buy the Ingot itself from guild suppliers for 68 gil each
You can buy the NQ ingot from the market for 240 gil
You can buy the HQ ingot from the market for 500-600gil

People paying that 500 gil for something they could make for 24 gil, then turning around and buying gil so they can keep overpaying for the materials. THIS is what is killing the economy :-(

I'm all for not buying gil.. but I don't think I'm willing to limit who I will buy off of the AH from, if the lowest price item is available I am buying it.

I will let the STFU deal with gil sellers and gil buyers.

I'm concerned about SE being able to block these RMT. They never were able to do it in FFXI, not sure what is different here. You can't just block the ISP's from China as they'll get around that too. Maybe SE should focus their endgame in which it only requires time, never large sums of gil to complete something. If they do that, I'm pretty certain the RMT won't have any customers.

Actually people sell for outrageous prices on AH as that is the only source of real gil in the game.

If everyone cheated, there'd be no advantage to cheating, would there? It would just be a normal part of the game. So of course cheaters are against you cheating even while they are cheating themselves.
