Ok, we're going to have another FC Meeting this Sunday at 8pm. We'll be discussing officer nominations, creating linkshells for different aspects of the FC, FC forums, and anything else you guys want to discuss. Post here any topics you'd like to have added to the agenda.

Figures.. I am heading to Vermont that day for a 3 day conference. I'll have to read notes.

Setting up a group or volunteers to help with mandatory story dungeons would be nice, or setting up days for various primal/dungeon runs.
And, maybe it's just me missing it, have reasons to party up game more often. Get a big FATE group together or something.

Want to know if those who are not officers will still have access to the company chest in the same manner as officers currently (since we are significantly cutting the officer population). Obviously new members may have to earn access to withdraw from the chest, but what about the current officers who did not win the popularity contest? Will there be an intermediate class available for us or is it tough luck... Personally, I wear the tags proudly on my AF, I would like to have at least the same access I currently possess as officer. I don't really care about the status, I just want the perks.

I'm with Valk on this... I'm not online nearly as much as the rest of you due to RL obligations... and honestly I prefer to not be single again...

I was an officer in many a guild/linkshell over the years.. but not at this point in my life.

That being said, I would still like to feel like I'm appreciated as a contributing member even if I am not the most popular person in the FC.

It's certainly possible to create a rank that has access to the chest but is not an officer, the question really is whether we want to stratify members like that. It's worth discussing for sure.

I don't see the point in limiting this access... why should we?

I'm barely able to play compared to most people, so I have no votes up there. But I have helped people in the FC when I'm online and I have added some stuff into the chest as well as taken a couple of small things too.

I think telling somebody they are not good enough to access the chest is a bunch of rubbish if you ask me.

What's next? Will we have a bouncer at the door to keep the ugly people out of the cool people club when we get our housing?

The issue is that we have an extremely open recruitment policy, and we should as a casual FC.

So do we just give every random person on the server full access to the chest? Because I'm pretty sure it's all or nothing; they either have unrestricted access, or none.

I support the idea of some kind of "full member" rank, I'm just not sure that such a thing is necessarily conducive to a casual environment. In a raiding guild, it'd be no problem.. you have your trial rank and your member rank. But a casual one? I just don't know if that's appropriate or not.

That's why I'm saying it's worth discussing. There are pros and cons to both.

I definitely don't think that officers should be the only ones with bank access, I think that's problematic.

While I am all for everyone having access to the chest, I do think that new members (people we don't know or just met including new people to the forum) should have a trial period where they either have little or no access to it because there are people who will join just to steal the FC loot. I had this happen a few times in WoW before I put the brakes on it by modifying the ranks. Just my two cents but I will save the rest of my thoughts on this subject for Sunday if I can make it.

While we are at it, maybe a discussion of what should even go in the FC chest? I know the other day it was full of a bunch of random stuff as if someone were using it instead of getting a retainer ><

Wow, I should actually make this one! I feel like such a team player now! Smiley: cry

That said, yeah, the talk will probably turn to "direction" again. Grouping up for dungeon runs, FATEs, etc.

Also, being limited in my playtime, I have no problem being lower on the totem pole, but I too will have to admit to wishing access to the Company Chest, but only in the sense that I'd like to place crafting items in there for people who might require them. On my days off, I'll probably be farming mats like a fiend ( I seriously have nothing better to do), and would like the opportunity to assist the Free Company in that sense, if nothing else.

Oh, and is there going to be a rule about alts being in the Free Company? I mean, I know I have a LOT of characters, but I've intentionally kept them out of the Free Company 'cause I didn't want to be seen as a mooch. However, my crafting alt is now starting to get higher, and as stated above, I'd like to be able to drop mats in the Company Chest for others to use. He's the only one I'd wish to add at this point though, but it might come up again for others at some point as well.

We'll have to hammer things out eventually, but it looks like we're heading in the right direction...

Well you have to admit, it's a lot easier to get to and use than a retainer Smiley: clown

No but seriously, that thing's tiny.. it needs to hold useful things.

No one who is currently an officer will lose any privileges. The basic plan will be to give everyone the rank of member, which is exactly the same as the current officer rank, just with a different title. I will create an officer tier, which will have more permissions, such as spending company credits and changing the company action. New members will be put into an "initiate" rank with limited options. Once we get forums established, we'll have everyone register on the forums with their in-game name as well as their ZAM forum name. Anyone who does not register after a set amount of time, will be bumped down to initiate rank until they do so.

We'll go over stuff in more detail on Sunday night.

Can't we just have limited access (amounts) that are withdrawn by all members per week. And if there is a need for use of resources in the treasury that benefit the whole crew we can make exceptions? Pretty sure at this point, FC gil only needs a be used for our housing 'project' when that occurs This is just an opinion and I do not agree or disagree, yet, with any points made thus far...

There's no setting for that. Either someone has total unrestricted access, or no access at all.

And that's exactly what the gil is doing right now.

I should actually be able to attend this time barring any unfortunate accidents. *knock on wood* Everything I would have wanted to talk about has already been mentioned. I really wish they had an option to allow deposits of either gil or items into the chest and a separate rule that allows withdrawal. That being said we really need to figure out a system for depositing items into the chest as it really gets filled up with crap even after I take out things that are easy to obtain.

It only takes someone a minute to fill the chest with crap but takes like a hour or so to organize everything.

Once we get officers instituted, this will probably be a part of that responsibility as well, to keep the FC chests clean. I go in once or twice a day and try and clear out the crap, but it seems to fill up even faster than I can do manage. So hopefully we can have a bunch of officers who will all check it occasionally and keep emptying out the crap.

As for the setting, SE in their infinite brilliance, decided that the FC chest, as well as the FC bank should either be an all or nothing ordeal, with absolutely no settings to only withdraw or only deposit, so unfortunately our hands are tied on that front. Hopefully that gets addressed soon.

I'm in favor of people needing to go through a trial period before becoming full members, and thus having access to the chest. I don't think it should only be limited to the people who won the popularity contest however.

I would like to put things into the chest knowing that it was for the betterment of the entire FC.

If 200 people are going to be putting into a chest that only 8 people can take from, no one will contribute to the chest. You will lose members that way, and no one wants that, especially me. You should restrict access to new members who may potentially join to take advantage of perks, but then open up the access to those who have been members for a period of time (one month or so). Stratification is badly needed if the officer population will be severely cut.

Hopefully that will be addressed with inventory and retainer sorting in the patch 2.1

Its a good idea to do that with gil. It is for the same reason that organizations have treasurers instead of a bright little piggy bank full of money sitting ungaurded by the entry/exit door.
