I don't know the exact requirement for GC (already 2nd Lieut from 1.0, which required Dzemael and Castrum Novum), but it is only one successful run for the dungeon. I don't see how it's super hardcore to get one run.

I wasn't complaining or calling it super hardcore. I read part of what you said, "You certainly don't need to run Wanderer's Palace or the like" and responded to that. Amdapor Keep's on that level of difficulty. However, if your main point was that you didn't have to continually run it over & over again, then yea I'm not arguing there.

That's the whole point, you don't have to run WP for 10 times for a piece of DL gear to start doing end-game stuff. AF + Company Weapon or even Darklight Weapon (which is actually iLvl 55 green and has nothing to do with DL armour/accessories pieces) would have been a good start. How about someone doing lvl 46 dungeons and don't even have all accessories slot filled or (very odd) using lvl 41 white weapon? Heck the Main Story quest to that level would have at the very least give you an appropriate lvl WHITE weapon.

There are QQ on official forum about how FATES giving too much XP for almost doing nothing has destroyed the game. While I disagree with that, I'm starting to see more and more people who do FATES to level up, don't bother to get reasonable gear and does not want to spend time wiping to learn the fight and ragequit as soon as they died a few times on optional dungeons. I would appreciate it if you would have sticked to the dungeon until final minute even if it's futile, because at least you learn the mechanics of the fights.

I agree on the iLVL front in that there really is a bare minimum needed (but nothing stupid like Relic weapons needed to get Relics, or Delve weapons needed to do Delve content, etc.).

That being said, I'm currently using a white weapon at level 50. Why? It's sadly better than anything else I've seen (not once have I gotten a Gladiator arm to drop), I'm on the last battle for the story mission (that unlocks the final rank for GC 50 weapons), and anything available on Sargatanas that actually has a higher damage rating than what I'm using is 2million or more.

The rest of my things? AF + HQ accessories (49, and a 50 neck) that are waiting for my crafting to catch up for melding.

What is considered end-game is after the Main story anyway. You start getting serious gear check during Relic Quest/Primal Hard and Bahamut Coil.

Yes I did run mostly on quests all the way to 40's because yoshi stated there were enough quests to level one class to max. Im thinking he exagerated a bit on that, not that Im complaining. I just wanted to save "grinding" for additional classes.

this was a bad idea on your part.. the first job was ment to lvl off Main story not side quests.. now when you lvl another job from that city you will ahve zero to do other than huntlogs and fates.. you pretty much jacked your future self .

I don't know how this was a bad idea for him though, because what if he wanted to do another class after that?

Eventually the side-quests will be completed and you will eventually want to level another class/job, so you might as well just do them when you want because in the end it's all the same.

Regardless what people say, OP, it was intended for you to do the side quests along with the story quests. Hell, a lot of them even tie into the main story quest you are doing at the time, which is why I feel that they locked a bunch until you've finished a certain story quest and also why I feel that people that don't do it that way are short changing themselves on some of the flavor of the main story.

With that said, it really boils down to what makes you happy and what you enjoy doing. Don't let anyone tell you are 'doing it wrong' and do not tell them likewise. It's a game and is intended to be done anyway you see fit (outside of taking advantage and promoting exploits, of course). I have the same problem that you do, although I'm not sure I'd call it a problem, as I'm Level 41 now and it's the only time I feel that I had to 'grind' for exp, and then it's only a half level or so. But that is the price you pay when picking up a game at release. Eventually, they will either adjust Exp to next level, boost Exp on current quests, or add new quests to compensate. Until then, I just go do leves or even help out FC mate and take a break, so when I get back to it, the little 'grind' won't get to me as much. Good luck.

Seems like I'll remake my character then lol since I did all quests while leveling instead of leaving them for secondary classes :S
