Raise me?! Raise me?!Follow

#1 Aug 30 2013 at 1:40 PM Rating: Good
Ok...Soooo I keep seeing these shouts for "Raise please at (x, y)" usually followed by "My home is ____."

Now, I'm only level 23 on my gladiator, but I'm seeing these shouts in the level 30 areas, and my first thought is... Teleport.

Like by the time someone actually decides to stop what they're doing to come and help you, you will have wasted just as much if not MORE time than if you had just teleported to a nearby town and ridden your mount to wherever it is you are.

Raises to me don't seem as pertinent as in FFXI where it would take you 20-30 minutes to get back to your location so please enough with the raise shouts! Yes teleports cost money, but seriously it's not much. OR DO A CHOCOBO PORTER:)

As a CNJ on one of my characters, I'll toss a raise on a dead person if I see one.

I'm not going to come hunt down your *** in the middle of a zone, though, unless you're in my party. The damage to your gear at the lower levels is negligible since you're going to replace it soon anyway.

I think people just like using their abilities that they don't get to use often. I mean, you shouldn't be dying too much pre-35. It's also a pretty nifty spell. Three times I've shouted for a raise for me or another player, and 4~5 people appear at the spot eager to help. It's a nice feeling!

Though, tele is faster

teleports become exspensive depending on where ur return is set.. I would rather wait 2 min for a raise than sepnd 600g for a tele.

Smiley: lol Little things like that is fun to read in chat, especially when they are within eyesight of a save crystal. People in game keep slamming the random gil beggers with facts but not the gil sellers shouts. I'm starting to think most people blacklist those guys.

I'm personally annoyed with the "where is ________ mob? I can't finish my Hunting Log without it"!

Here's an idea. How about filling in the map while hunting?! You might be surprised with what you find!

In all fairness some of those logs require a mob there is only one of, and you have 20 people KoSing it. It can be hard to find them.

Perhaps direct them to a website that has all of the hunting logs for each class listed instead. Will help them learn to not rely on others in game so much.

http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Hunting_Log

Though, given that it is a SOCIAL game, I don't think that is necessarily a wise move.

My definition of social in terms of an mmo is simply different than yours. If by chance it was a shout for say... a hunting log pt, I would think that was kinda cool. But spamming directions to the xp bank? Not my idea of social interaction. But to each their own.

Helping each other, especially given the vague nature of the hunting log locations, is social interaction.

Filling up the map has often left me still looking for mobs in my log because they were tucked away somewhere special. A simple shout and 3 people usually answer in a friendly manner, I thank them, and go on my way.

A hunting log party would be great...but that isn't feasible as hunting logs are aimed at solo play. So the fact that players can bring social nature to a solo aspect is probably a good thing.

Only time I've shouted for a raise was when i died during a leve. /shameface. 'twas only once and I learned to pay more attention while doing them.

Almost every raise shout I have seen was either by people doing leves or fates. Both of which you don't want to leave from, as the cost of leaving is incredibly high considering.

As for the shouting, it's nice to see. Given the state of the game at it's first release, to see people actually communicating, even if it is pointless or meaningless drivel. Reminds me of the days in 11 where people would shout for things like "How do I get crystals?" Or my favorite, where do I go to level at ##? And the reason that one is a fav isn't to say it was a bad question, but the sheer volume of responses, and some of the arguments that would spawn from it were priceless.

The shouting for raises isn't that big of a deal, like others said, it reminds me a lot of the FFXI community! However, the LFG for dungeons and what not bugs me, use the duty finder! It's awesome!

Last night someone was shouting that they had 3/4 for Brayflox, needed healer. I almost shouted back what healer would join you when they get instaqueues?

The ones that get me, are when people shout for the whereabouts of a quest item, when the quest dialogue tells you right where to go and find that item.

Wow really? Don't communicate and rely on others in your online multiplayer game, guys. If you're not careful you may have to interact with someone!! And would everybody shut up in the chat window? I'd like a little privacy here.

It doesn't really bother me. I respond every time and most are always undyingly grateful. I'm not even a healer, but a Paladin. My raise doesn't cost me a cent, but their port can cost them close to a k. I guess it's all about common courtesy. Would I want a raise? Hell, yeah!

Well thanks for your idea but guess what it isn't helpful. I have asked a few times for a mob from the hunting log. Why? Because while the log tells me the area it is, more than often is way far away from there and I end up searching for 15 minutes with no success.

People are really helpful with that cause they know it's damn hard sometimes to spot them. I have helped other people with that and guess what I will do it again.

People asking for help is nice it keeps the shouts active with good conversations.

As for the raise me yea it is kinda annoying when it is misused that much. I was doing a quest and it took me from ul dah to a gods forsaken place in gridania. Besides the fact that the teleport would cost 600+ I had just got there so that means no crystal so I would have to run all the way there when I died. Thankfully there were a few people that helped me.

That's how I also help as well when I can. When I see a person that can't handle his mob I kill it so he wont die. Simple stuff make the community lively and good. People should stop being annoyed with small things. It's really simple either you help or you don't. It doesn't hurt to ask for help.

I don't mind ever casting raise on people who need it if they're close, don't mind helping people with HL either since sometimes it tells you the mob is in a huge area and they're kinda hidden away. I play as a healer and I always prioritize helping people shouting for dungeons on my server over duty finder since I can get a party almost instantly plus it helps make friends on my server

Yeah I agree let people talk in chat and ask for help. Seriously I do not get this thread. If you don't like shout chat surely there's an option to turn it off. Or just color code it something hard to see. Or play an offline game lol.

Well, not all people have the gil to keep changing their Home Point - or don't realise they can.
So a little compassion goes a long way.
For me personally I would rather home point than put up with the whole weakness thing.

This is a big issue for me. Teleports may be balanced around endgame gil generation from FATEs and such, but when you're a lowbie, that's a number of one-time quests or a good few full-participation FATEs. As is, the economy is pretty unstable right now with entry level crafters flooding markets and eliminating profits while other rare items are simply priced way too high (like people wanting 10k+ for the trio-dungeon quest greens). I have the main cities marked as favorites, as that makes them a little more than an airship ride minus the walk/zoning lag, but I'm actually not sure how many more I could mark. Even so, if they're 200+ gil, it's iffy to me.

It's just my opinion. Call out after every 15 minutes all you want.

I don't have a problem with either. I'm the kind who used to go out of her way on FFXI to raise individuals, and I'm still the type to do so in FFXIV. Sure we have teleports but some areas, such as those where you fight in instanced battles, can take a little while to get to on foot and if someone's in the vicinity to lend a raise, why not?

Personally, I think lending a hand and offering advice is the glue which holds a good community together. If everyone starts playing solely for their own gain the community suffers and so does the experience as a whole.
