Listen, we are not martyrs. This is a video game, not a world changing event. If you want to suffer the pain and log out, that's ok, I encourage you to do that, because it is folks like you that keep humanity great. But trust me, people will take advantage of your kindness and will not remember you in the slightest for the pain you have suffered. I got slapped in the face for 8 hours on Sunday so I consider my dues paid. I was told first to level pugilist to unlock black mage, then told, no, you need arcanist, then finally I find out I need archer. So I spent a lot of time leveling classes to 15 that I will not likely use. I'm personally tired of the suffering. And now that I am paying for the service, I am not into the pay me so I can slap you version of S&M that will be going on the next few weeks until the servers get stable. My PS3 is dedicated to FFXIV, and is slim and brand new and has a year warranty at Gamestop and a fan blowing directly on it to keep it cool. It will be ok to keep it on a few days straight. I am all for fairness. If you boot everyone for afk, then I humbly accept that. If I get logged out for maintenance, oh darn. But I hear that SE is gradually incresing the amount that can play at once on the servers and have cut new character creation to many worlds. But like I said originally, I am no martyr. Noone but me is going to see me pushing that button for four hours, and if I told you all "Hey my fingers died for your sins!" you would all just laugh at me.

This is the last thing I will say on this topic. Doing the right thing does not make you a martyr because your life is not forfeit for your actions. It makes you a decent person, nothing more, nothing less. It means doing what is right simply because it is right, and for no other reason. Not because people will praise you for it. Not because you stand to gain from it. What makes a person good or bad is the decision to do what is right when you KNOW no one is watching and the only thing you stand to gain is integrity. You ARE bad people plain, pure and simple. That you would behave so base over something as trivial as a video game reveals the total depth of your character... and it is a shallow pool you wade in.
