My schedule dictates my prime gaming time to be throughout the late hours of the night. At the end of which I Log Off, so that others may play during their time. This way I still get to play and maintain my integrity. Where as yourself and many others get to play and be considered douchebags by decent human beings.

You play late at night when there are no problems, trust me if you played prime EST it would be a different story.

Thanks to the kinds of you there's so many people can't even make a character, shame on you for making the good title looks bad. Thanks to this issue, the rating for this game on mmorpg.com dropped from 8.26 down to 6.2. though its not important, this issue give a bad name to this game we dearly enjoy.

However I and many more have filed a suggestion and feedback regarding the Anti-AFK system.

Yeah, blame the players for making the game look bad, not the company that has essentially crapped down it's own leg.

SE created this beast. It's 100% their fault.

Why on earth do they not have an AFK autoboot like every other MMO?

Is it considered bad manners in Japan to kick someone off a game even if they've been inactive fro hours?

This strategy is either (a) sheer stupidity or (b) a way to force throttle players and avoid creating new servers for launch.

Either way it's one of the worst MMO launch strategies I'e ever seen.

They used to have player bazaars in 1.0 that required you to stay logged in to sell. With them gone, it's just sheer stubbornness on their part.

I do the same as Spin Spun. Every one who stays logged in afk is completley selfish and only cares for them selves some day they will relize the world does not revolve around them. I was worried i would not bable to log in last night after seeing how people were staying logged in. When i got home i got server full 2 times then on the 3rd try i got in the longest i had to spam log in was about 15min. It's realy not that bad.

Work has pretty much screwed me out of even attempting to log in for launch but here comes a cozy 4 day holiday weekend starting Friday. When I get in you will have to tear my log-in from my cold dead (and freshly manicured) hands. Oh yes!

Except for Sunday. Sunday is Drive Invasion. I will show mercy and log out. But when I get home, it's back on!

I stayed logged in last night because it took me 12 hours just to login. So my anecdotal is more powerful then your anecdotal!

Logged out in the inn last night because my PS3 whines like mad when it is on, and because I try to be a good mmo citizen, or maybe I'm just a sucker. Anyways, got the server full message when logging back in but luckily after slamming the x button for only 5 minutes I popped in the server on Lamia. I agree that SE must be smoking something and forgot to implement the afk logout timer.

Yeah, not too bad, my shortest time trying to get in after seeing 1017 the first time was 4 hours. Usually it's at least 6. That's not bad at all right? This is with me constantly trying to get in, not checking every half an hour or so.

I tested this theory and after about the 30 minutes or so that it has been, i am logged in. However this is not my current playtime so I will log back off....

If there is a wait for me to get in I just periodically check and it usually doesnt take more then 30-45 minutes. Longest it has been is a hour. (That is also during afternoon evening attempts)

I just pass the time waiting by practicing Botany and Weaving in my backyard

From what happened to 1.0 I don't think they over seen this coming, then again most game is also judged by the community.

I'm NEVER logging out again!

If they don't like it they can implement an automatic disconnect function like every other MMO to make room on the server for people to log in...

I'm fairly certain I'll get to play tonight.

I'm sorry, I made this account after reading this. I just need to say that this action is so low, you shouldn't have given up your self respect for a game. Well maybe they should have done something about this issue if they wanted better ratings.

They are doing something, aren't they? lol. Don't you read the news page? on their website?

This is why you stress test your game and do real open betas.

To avoid this exact thing happening.

Perhaps you didn't understand what I posted so I'll clarify. I said maybe they should have done something, and by that I meant, before the launch, not during the launch.

LOL - what are they doing other than capping logins?

That's like saying the quack doctor is fixing your hangnail by amputating your foot.

Everything they've done since the first minute of Early Access has been reactive. desperate attempts to keep the ship from completely imploding and sinking.

It's painfully obvious that SE's infrastructure is leagues below where it needs to be. Not a good sign.

That tells me they totally show-stringed the re-release and basically put lipstick on a pig.

Removing an obsolete function that you know would risk borking your release is a no-brainer, unless you don;t have the resources ($$) to do it.

I just had two friends try and log in for 30 minutes straight. Both were MMO veterans, both left frustrated with an "F this game and SE" attitude. Thanks SE for completely ruining my attempt that bringing new people into the game.

One actually said that all NA/EU servers were closed for character creation for him. WTF SE. I got to lvl 25, I really really like this game, but I can't see myself rewarding their arrogance and incompetence with a script.

Their twitter has been silent, save for some ************ about the launch videos...they learned nothing and they're doing nothing about this but capping character creation and pretending like everything is ok...aka typical SE.

Please don't give them any more of your money.

Listen, we are not martyrs. This is a video game, not a world changing event. If you want to suffer the pain and log out, that's ok, I encourage you to do that, because it is folks like you that keep humanity great. But trust me, people will take advantage of your kindness and will not remember you in the slightest for the pain you have suffered. I got slapped in the face for 8 hours on Sunday so I consider my dues paid. I was told first to level pugilist to unlock black mage, then told, no, you need arcanist, then finally I find out I need archer. So I spent a lot of time leveling classes to 15 that I will not likely use. I'm personally tired of the suffering. And now that I am paying for the service, I am not into the pay me so I can slap you version of S&M that will be going on the next few weeks until the servers get stable. My PS3 is dedicated to FFXIV, and is slim and brand new and has a year warranty at Gamestop and a fan blowing directly on it to keep it cool. It will be ok to keep it on a few days straight. I am all for fairness. If you boot everyone for afk, then I humbly accept that. If I get logged out for maintenance, oh darn. But I hear that SE is gradually incresing the amount that can play at once on the servers and have cut new character creation to many worlds. But like I said originally, I am no martyr. Noone but me is going to see me pushing that button for four hours, and if I told you all "Hey my fingers died for your sins!" you would all just laugh at me.

This is the last thing I will say on this topic. Doing the right thing does not make you a martyr because your life is not forfeit for your actions. It makes you a decent person, nothing more, nothing less. It means doing what is right simply because it is right, and for no other reason. Not because people will praise you for it. Not because you stand to gain from it. What makes a person good or bad is the decision to do what is right when you KNOW no one is watching and the only thing you stand to gain is integrity. You ARE bad people plain, pure and simple. That you would behave so base over something as trivial as a video game reveals the total depth of your character... and it is a shallow pool you wade in.

The thing is, SE did plan for some extra capacity. During the EA weekend they brought a half dozen or so extra servers online between the JP and NA data centers. Those six extra servers were not, however, nearly enough to match the demand.

They completely underestimated the number of folks that wanted to play.

I think this thread should be locked...the people who are against AFK'ing and the pro-AFKers are never going to see the other's point of view. This thread has become nonsense

I log out when I'm done playing. I couldn't care less about AFKers. They paid for the game like me, there are no rules against it and no system in place to stop it. Everyone just needs to chill out.

I logged in this morning after not even being able to make a character on the world all my RL friends are on and finally made a toon and let him sit there so I can have a chance to play. Last night I got to do Buttkiss and I will not let that happen again. I will play for 3 hours tonight and log off for a raid in SWTOR. Thursday morning I will log in and do the exact same thing for my fantasy football draft at 8 that evening. Come the weekend I will be logged on 24/7 the entire weekend. It's the only way Ill get to play.

I log in when I am playing and log off when I am not.
Of course I get 1017 after get home from work to start the game, so I get to do other stuff and trying again every 10 or so minutes.
I miss the game after I did most what I was interested so I created another toon on JP server, run around, feeling bored in game.
Luckily I get queued and log in NA server, get to play for a few hours and log off when I go to sleep.

Many thanks to people who log off when they are not playing.
