This is the issue, this is what we're going to do to fix it and it's going to take approximately this long.

Thing is, we're still in the dark. You don't know any more about what they're doing now than you did before you read the statement. You still know that your patience is appreciated and that they value your cooperation. How far is that going to take you when you're sitting in front of your PC or PS3 spending most of the time you had planned to use leveling up with friends, exploring or just kicking back to hook a few fish and chat with your GC; staring at a black screen with an error message while mashing the enter button? I don't imagine that it will take you very far.
I have quite a lot of patience. What I don't have is a lot of time to burn, especially when it's time I'm being asked to pay for.
I'm going to assume you've never worked in the IT field. Any answer they could give like the one you want would be completely lieing. Simply, they don't know. You don't just buy more hardware and plug it into live environments and hope. You have to test it (and although people assume they aren't doing any testing, they are). You have to make sure your scaling programs work in a non-live environment.
I know many many people pre-ordered between P3 and P4. They couldn't use those pre-order numbers to anticipate demand and have more hardware ready to go.
This is frustrating for people, myself included, but the answer you want them to give is not one that is possible. They could use the Scotty principle and say "we should be good in about 2 weeks" and be ready next week, but would you be happy if they told you two weeks? What if they said "ready in two days" and it takes three? This is the best answer they can give.
