Got me, but I've seen people say that you can't get both, which just seems strange.

What seems strange(silly actually) to me is that you can't register two different codes for the same platform on one SE ID. It's not like a tier thing where if you previously had the standard game and found a CE somewhere, you could just upgrade your account with that registration code. Same thing goes for ARR apparently. If you had the standard version of XIV for PC and then purchased the CE version of ARR for PC, you have to register the ARR version on it's own separate account.

Not a big deal if you didn't already have characters that you were attached to, but I thought it was odd that they decided to do it this way. The only way you can upgrade a standard account(PC) to a CE account(also PC) is to purchase the CE... for PS3? Smiley: oyvey

So if I'm legacy 1.0 CE and want the Cait Sith minion, I should preorder the standard edition right? I still get the collector's bonuses from 1.0 so with the standard edition ARR I would have everything?

I don't know if this helps or not, but I am a 1.0 CE player and when I purchased the $29.99 digital download to get the early access and the Cait Sith minion and mog hat, it told me I was getting it for $29.99 instead of $49.99. And showed a -$19.99 credit.

I purchased the digital download for £19.99 also.

I thought this was the case, but no one knows for sure. SE haven't seem to officially stated anything in regards to mixing 1.0 with a new ARR pre-order.

I spoke with SE support (UK / EU) today.

It seems they're unsure about it all as well, which is always reassuring...

I was told "As far as we're aware you can not add a early access code to an existing FFXIV account"

I did just this about 30 minutes ago:

1.0 CE non legacy purchaser. Bought SE digital download from Square-Enix. Added pre-order code to same account as 1.0 Collector's Edition. When I confirmed registration it listed all of the items attached to my account and the Cait Sith and moogle cap were listed.

For god sake!

I phoned them today and cancelled my pre-order. I ended up buying the PS3 version instead!

I have an 1.0 standard account (not a Legacy one). The preorder code applied itself on my account instantly and without any error messages anywhere.

I don't see why that wouldn't be allowed, however. Seems quite straightforward.

I can also confirm that I am a 1.0 CE player and applied my pre-order code to get EA as well as Mog hat and Cait Sith thingie. So yes, if you paid for the pre-order you get both. ^_^

Here is what it looked like.

Just wanted to update this. Camate made a post saying that there would be a digital upgrade available for the SE of 1.0 to the new CE, but as of yet there is nothing available in the store. Cool option for those who want the bonus in-game items, but no pre-order on it so no early access.

Aye I'm non-legacy 1.0 CE account holder aswell and did that and had the same exact screen :). I think it should be ok now, though I cant find those services listed anywhere to check if I do have the mog cap etc on my account now aswell.

Yeah., I can't go back and confirm it now either. I've looked everywhere trying to help other people. That's why I took a screenshot of it so that I can go back and look at it to remind myself it said it and that I didn't dream it up. Lol.
