Unfortunately it looks like that agent handed you some outdated information. Players will in fact be able to apply CE items to their existing characters. All CE items are available to any character on an account where the registration is applied. This includes existing characters (1.0 created characters), and new characters (characters created now and going forward on that account).

Sorry for the mix-up, we'll work harder to make sure our agents are working with the most up-to-date information to prevent miscommunications like the above.

That doesn't make sense...

It means that all the Legacy Character (in fact, all the Character from 1.0) cannot get the new CE bonus items? Even if they sold a "digital upgrade" to CE version to the owner of the 1.0 game?

I think hope the SquareEnix just got the wrong/outdated information

I keep noticing how people are worried that someone else will steal their character name on these threads. I'm just confused why this is such a problem. We have last names for a reason and it's unlikely people will pick the same first and last name for their characters.

My name is from a popular movie, so it's a valid concern I think.

I thought SE abandoned the old method in favor of using the Delivery Moogle method. That's how we got our gear during beta.

That doesn't make sense, I was able to retrieve my pre-order items in P3. Oh well, whatever.

I wonder if this chat was taken out of context. I know that Legacy players may have an issue with CE items, but why would P4 players have that issue?
Something is stinky and its NOT me.

Those looking to purchase the PC Collector’s Edition for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn may want to read up on the way the registration codes will work for the game before making their purchase.

Community Rep Hvinire responded to several questions about pre-ordering the game, one of which asked about purchasing the CE and applying the code for the CE in-game items to an existing account. His response was:

You will receive the pre-order items, but the registration code for the Windows collector’s edition cannot be used with a pre-existing Windows service account. To receive the in game items for the collector’s edition, please use the digital upgrade.

However, the PS3 version can be registered to an existing Windows account, which would allow you to receive the collector’s edition items.

If you purchased the regular edition of Final Fantasy XIV when it first launched and are interested in getting the PC Collector’s Edition for A Realm Reborn, you won’t be able to get the in-game items that come with it. The code that comes with the PC Collector’s Edition can only be used with a new Windows service account, not existing ones. But there’s hope! You can purchase the digital upgrade for the Collector’s Edition which will net you the in-game items on your existing Windows account. What’s that you say? You want all the cool physical items in the CE? Not a problem! Square Enix says you can purchase the PlayStation 3 Collector’s Edition to get the physical goods, and a code that will allow your existing PC account to get the in-game items! What they fail to mention is the PS3 Collector’s Edition costs $10.00 more than the one for PC and doesn’t take into account the fact that you might not have a PS3.

How will you be purchasing the Collector’s Edition for A Realm Reborn to ensure you get all the bonuses? Sound off in the comments below!

ok Im confused so if i crerate a cvhractaer n phase 4 but dont enter my CE pre order/poduct code... then when launch starts I start up my phase 4 character enter my CE pre order code I wont get my CE items?
#11 Aug 13 2013 at 10:07 AM Rating: Good
So you can get the CE items as long as you are making a new character and not binging one over from 1.0?
Speaking of special items, does anyone remember Herme's Shoes? I used to have them at 1.0 launch, bit I didn't get them in phase 3 beta. I did get my old CE items, however.

I guess it doesn't matter since sprint is a better effect and I'm sure they wouldn't stack anyway. Smiley: glare

This doesn't make much sense because what about legacy characters? I don't get any CE items unless I make a new character???

Suppose you **** someone off and you have posted your server and desired name, they can very easily attempt to claim it just to get back at you.

The majority of posters here wouldn't do something like that, but of course the majority of viewers aren't posters. And it's apparently very easy to **** off some people.

I'm wondering myself if this is a misunderstanding. Everyone could get their items in phase 3, I can't imagine why that wouldn't work in phase 4.

It seems just as trustworthy as that supposed e-mail from SE a few weeks ago confirming early access for the 20th.

Yeah, they were all mailed to your character so, I think it's confusing.

I think that the CS rep's advice was misleading. Maybe you can get items if you're a previous CE owner, but not if you've chosen to upgrade?

Why did we have to bring this thread over from the beta forums..

Quote:
Players Who Own the FFXIV version 1.0 Collector’s Edition
Players who own the FFXIV version 1.0 Collector’s Edition will receive the FFXIV: ARR Collector’s Edition in-game bonus items (Helm of Light, Baby Behemoth Minion, Behemoth Barding, and Coeurl Mount) for free. The in-game bonus items will be delivered via Moogle Letter when FFXIV: ARR launches.

is from the lodestone . There is zero reason why ppl who play p4 wouldent get the items. They ahve said multiple times that such things will be account wide and mailed. Back in 1.0 yes the items was only on 1 char and it had to be a "new" char to put it on. I think these reps have bad info. I tried getting on the ffxiv support and couldent get into a chat. These responses are mostlikly from SE account support.

The Collector's Edition digital upgrade offers customers the ability to upgrade their standard FFXIV account to Collector's Edition status via the “FFXIV Service Center” website that is scheduled to be opened at the launch of official service, which then grants the in-game bonus items included with the Collector's Edition. Customers in possession of the Collector's Edition for either version 1.0 or A Realm Reborn will receive these Collector's Edition items without needing to purchase the upgrade.
* Characters that have already been created will be able to receive the items.

The folks taking stuff from the official forms or from reddit really need to start adding in reference links to their posts. Seriously.

http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/1ka5q4/psa_the_support_team_says_you_cannot_receive_the/

From the discussion on reddit about the image:

"The Collector's Edition digital upgrade offers customers the ability to upgrade their standard FFXIV account to Collector's Edition status via the “FFXIV Service Center” website that is scheduled to be opened at the launch of official service, which then grants the in-game bonus items included with the Collector's Edition. Debunked there as inaccurate information. Come on guys. At least give a source.

The CE registration code when applied to your account supplies the CE items to characters on that account, there isn't a separate code. You can apply your registration code received with your copy of the game at launch. The pre-order code you've already received (if you pre-ordered) can be registered August 20th to affirm your account for early access.

However, neither your pre-order items, nor your CE items will arrive to any characters on your account until the official launch of the game.
