It'll be every 30 days, Even FFXI does it this way now, Don't think they've done the stupid beginning of the month thing for a few years now.

If your new to ffxiv you will get a free 30 days if your not than I think we get a free two weeks due to them letting people get there copys. So I think it depends on when you enter your codes. But yes every 30 days .

A "free trial" would be for people who haven't bought the game.

P4 imo is the free trial. Have a pulse? You're in. Like it? See you back at release. Don't like it? Maybe I'll see you in ESO.

Free trial isn't the same thing as free game time. An amount of game time comes with the purchase of the game.

Also this. If you know someone who's curious about XIV, P4 is for them.

Was there any better explanation than that? I mean, many people paid full price already. Why wouldn't they grant the full trial period?

I only really ask because I'm not sure 2 weeks is enough to experience enough of the game to come up with a decision about whether or not it's something I'll want to stick around for. That said, I've also got the benefit of being only a handful of levels away from cap.

SE themselves refer to it as a 'Free Trial Period'.

They can call it Eggs on a Stick if they want. It's not a free trial when you have to buy the game first.

Also the 30 days is game time I kinda wish everyone got it because it seems its "included" in the price. But people who preorder it for the extra items to put on there old account dont get the time. :(

The cost of the box has nothing to do with it. There are two costs associated with XIV; the box and the subscription. It's called 'free trial period' because you are not required to pay the price of the subscription. The cost of the box kinda goes without saying...

But you understand what I'm saying right? In order for something to be a free trial, it has to NOT have a cost associated with it. There is no way to play this game without paying for it first (outside of open beta), and therefore there is no free trial of this game.

The purchase of the game includes some game time. Whether you want to consider that time to be part of the box price (I do) or if you want to consider the box to be $15 more expensive and the game time is free, doesn't really matter. But it is, in no way, a trial.

Producer and Director Yoshida here.
I apologize for the delay in preparing various announcements.
With the beginning of official service on 8/27, we will be implementing a two-week long Welcome Back Campaign for those of you who have a FFXIV 1.0 service account, regardless if you are a Legacy Member or if you have Collector’s Edition/Standard Edition. During this time period you can try out FFXIV: ARR for free, so please take this opportunity to check out the game!
Once the date draws closer we will be announcing the details on the Lodestone as well as sending out an email from the development team.

some of this made me wonder if this will come with a disc for ps3. If it does, will I have to have the disc in to play, or will it just run off my HD like the beta does? Anybody know?

It's called a free trial because we're talking about subscription billing and it refers to the period that is NOT charged for, and therefore free. Sure you can say "Buy this product and get a subscription to the service for free" but it's understood that you are getting a month's subscription for no charge.

I understand what you're saying, but I think you also understand what he was saying Smiley: tongue
