Should I change my in-game name/appearance?Follow

#1 Jul 14 2013 at 10:37 AM Rating: Excellent
Beginning Phase 4 everyone will have the option to change their name and appearance once. I have been debating whether or not to do either or both.

Here is a picture of what I might change my appearance to:

As far as names I would like your feedback. Should I stay with State Alchemist? Or do you have a suggestion that you think I would like?

Be creative!

Edit: Should have thought of it but here is some pictures of my current avatar to compare:

Aren't you a bit short for a state alchemist? (/runaway)

Lol, I expect an appropriate response! Something along the lines of, "who you're calling so short they can't even see over the side walk!" Smiley: lol

I wouldn't change the name, though I do really like that avatar... it would help to have your current one to compare.

I know a lot of us are running our 1.0 Chars minimally until transfer is allowed (if/when, whatever) so I'm debating whether I want my non-legacy char to share the same name in the event that I do change over only to find I'm forcing a name change on my legacy char. I'm so torn and likely won't decide until P4 launch or actual release.

That is an adorable avatar! If I were a lala I'd want to look like that!

I think the name is cute! Great anime with some relevance to ARR. So keep the name but change to adorableness.

I like the new look and think you should do it. Up until last week I was determined that I wasn't going to change my character but I have been playing with the creator and have found some great new looks, strangely one of them is a female Miqote which is weird as I always found playing a female character something I never would consider. Only problem is that if I did change I would have to change my name as Edy doesn't really fit a female character. If it's just your general appearance (and I remember you were lala before in 1.0 right?) I would go for it.

I grouped with a female avatar once named Deeznutz. He still got hit on.

I like the darker hair. If you do go with a different name here are some naming conventions.

I think you should change the name. I don't think State Alchemist is very good. It doesn't seem like a name... people call you "State"? You could probably come up with something nicer sounding, and I love FMA. Your name is basically like "Uchiha Clan" etc.

I didn't use it personally, but here's a neat name generator for each race if you need ideas. http://fandango.exp.jp/name-generator.php (scratch that... the Lalafell ones sound really stupid. lol)

Personally, I've never been a fan of using titles as names. If you want to keep an fma reference, how about Izumi Automail or Kimiya Chaemera (kimia sounds like alchemia an older name for alchemy). I love the lala!

I wouldn't play female being male.. Allot of people will treat you oddly it is just the way it is and you will be stuck that way.
I knew a few people that were male that had female characters in ffxi and they said never again lets just leave it at that.
It has nothing to do with how good a male or female players are either, some of the best players I know were females in FFXI.

edit:
Back on track.
StateAlchemist, I like the new character.

This is stupid. I knew plenty of guys that played female characters. No one gives a sh*t, it's just a game.

Yea well if it is the case why do people get so excited and flame people about stuff on the forum if it is just a game. It may be stupid but there are people who will treat you different.

How about Maria (famous female alchemist Maria the Jewess) and Zosimus as a last name (famous Egyptian born Greek alchemist)

Sorry State, didn't intentionally try to usurp your thread it just really got me thinking. I posted something very similar on my Linkshell forum. Interesting responses on that too. At least you are sticking to Lala, just an aesthetic change really but I think it is really important what you want to look like for the next XXX years.

I was set on changing my legacy from a female mi'qote to a male lalafell, but after running around for the weekend on my legacy I'm not sure. I find that I'm still kinda attached to the ol' girl.

OP: I like the old hairstyle but the new hair color, and the third pic down is gold..."Do we have a problem?" Also your name is your name; there's history there. Looking at your sig you put some time in as State Alchemist, wear it with pride Smiley: nod
#25 Jul 16 2013 at 2:53 PM Rating: Good
If your asking I say don't change your name. It's a great name and everyone already knows you!

As far as looks I thought the lighter hair was cool. You could still use the new appearance and have your hair / eyes a similar striking color.

It's a cool name imo. The gray hair tho... as an alchemist I think you should be able to manage some hair dye. The prospective darker-haired lala is not bad. ^^
