Grand Company Hunting logFollow

The worst thing in this game. I have used every allowance I have including 3 every 12 hours for the past few days trying to finish the T1 hunting log. Wonderful being a lvl 35 doing leaves that don't give exp all while wasting my allowances that could have been used on my other characters. This better be redone by the time this game comes out.

You have a chance while doing specified level leves to get the kill you need. The chance must be 1% b.c over 30+ and I am still stuck on my last one, Thunderhooves.

It really kills the progression of the game and takes the fun away. Feels like I am fighting a losing fight doing these.

Sounds like a case of bad luck to me. I finished off my Grand Company Hunting Log's first page with almost no trouble at all. Inside of maybe 8 levequests I was able to get the 3 or so rare marks I needed at Camp Tranquil as well as The Quarrymille. I've seen Lush Morbol so many times at Tranquil that there is no way the odds are any worse than, say ... 25-35%. Of course it could also be mob-dependent, but who knows?

Having said that, I actually do agree that basing one's ability to progress in the Grand Company entirely off of your luck of the draw in regards to rare monsters spawning during battleleves doesn't seem fair. It doesn't jibe well with me, to be honest. Perhaps as something seen on later pages for much higher ranks, but doing it as early as they are when you're still trying to move from Tier 1 ranks to Tier 2? That doesn't seem right, and likely will just **** people off more than anything.

Perhaps replace the rare marks with getting involved in specific Boss FATEs in an area? Though I guess then you'd be at the mercy of assistance from other people in the area also wanting to do a FATE, and being fresh out of luck if not enough people come along.

They are lucky I can only get to 35 b.c I would have been 40+ and still trying to get this. Yes just used my 3 this morning after waking up and still no Hooves. I see on official forums they are also having problems. I can't post there for some reason so I cannot interact with those forums.

I burnt quite a few leve allowances trying to get my 2 to pop. I was also well over level for those leves. I had a ton of allowances saved up and stuff's getting wiped so I didn't mind as much on this character. I wouldn't want to waste leves like that for real though. One thing we could do, now that we know, is to run those leves right away when we're still in the level range. That's also another situation where level sync on leves could be useful.

However, there's still the matter of potentially using up quite a few leves just to get that random spawn so you can kill it for a few hundred GC seals. Not much of a reward for the time & allowances spent that could've been used elsewhere.

Once you join a GC. It's added as another section after the classes in the hunting log.

As soon as you pick your GC you get the log. It is in the hunting log and you just switch from your class log to the company log.

Ok, I haven't gotten that far into GC, are you saying it's required to fill out the GC hunting log in order to advance in rank at some point? Or are you just trying to do it to get more seals? Also, it seems like a bunch of the mobs are just regular, non-leve mobs... do more leve-based mobs show up on the higher tiers? Thanks in advance, and sorry to hear about your frustrations.

For the first couple ranks all you're going to need is Company Seals to get promotions. But when hopping from Private Tier to Sergeant Tier, you're forced to complete the full first page of Hunting Log targets given to you by your Grand Company (oh, and also hand over a bunch of Seals still, too).

And that's correct, most of the targets are just regular monsters, with some exceptions being monsters you can only find in the raid dungeons, such as in Halatali. That isn't too bad, really; besides, you're going to need to go dungeon raiding sooner or later at those levels, so you'll get them whether you mean to or not.

But yeah, then you have the leve-spawned marks, and as people have mentioned on the forums, it is a real crapshoot. Some people get lucky, other people blow dozens of leves for nothing. And yes, they will show up on later pages. Page 2 has something around 2-3 rare leve pops as well, so you can expect them all the way up the progression path of pages.

I didn't keep track of how many leves it took me to find both the NMs on my 1st page, but it was probably close to two dozen--completely unreasonable considering how few daily leve allowances we're allotted. Thankfully, they are planning on adjusting this to make it simpler.

Thanks to player feedback like yours, we're aware that some of the objectives under the Grand Company category for the hunting log are a bit tough to encounter.
We are planning an adjustment to the monster objectives to address this concern!

I would be happy if they drop the leve component entirely, or at least tie NM spawns to particular leves. For example, if the NM stag were to spawn from the level 20 leves that relates to stags, wouldn't that make more sense? They don't need to make it obvious that this is where you'll find it.

Well that's good that they are acknowledging it and plan to make it better. Hell it could be 50% but I could also get heads on a quarter toss 10 times in a row.

I dont think the GC huntlog is meant to be done in a few days. I see it as something to do for end game . If you want seals run fates. Im saving my leves for my lower lvls and If I get the NM I need than great.

Seals from FATEs may be a beta-only thing.

Or just let them all give seals always. Smiley: nod

If that is true then why are my levels not matching where I should be... B.c I can't finish them when I am supposed to. This isn't end game this is just progression done incorrectly. They are already talking about changing it so they already know that it should be higher.

Unless someone has a pointer, I couldn't finish the first tab for the Flames. The sylphs in South Shroud were blocked off for me.

I actually found the sylphs in the north shroud near the sylph stronghold.

Yeah same here. I tried going around from the south end but there's level 48 mobs in the way ><

I'll try the north shroud next :)

By any chance, have you done any guildhests yet?

I finished the first tab for Flames, and I never went to the Slyphs in South Shroud.

Also good to know.

But if they're going to put a tool tip in the hunting log about where to look it should be accurate.

The only one that gave me trouble was the Wanted Goblin. The other two popped on my first Leve. Spent about 25 trying to get the Goblin to pop, but may have missed him due to not knowing where to look. Just happened to stumble onto him out of the way of where the Leve was taking place.

Off-topic, but I really wish they would add an option to be able to pin the Hunting Log objectives to the Quest Tracker. It's a pain to open up the log every five seconds to check on what the hell I was looking for again. :P

If it's not too much trouble can someone here post a screen of what the hunt log looks like?

For the Sylphs I wanted to point out, there's a tunnel under the ramp that leads up to the Sanctum of the Twelve. That will get you to the level 23 Sylphs for the hunt log. The entrance is off to the west side of the ramp if you are facing north.

Has anyone used a legacy character with previous highest GC rank to try and do this? I mean is it possible to rise more in rank even in beta p3 and what is the purpose of GC nowadays? It used to be the way you progressed through the storyline, but I get a feeling it isn't anymore?
