Eh.. I really don't think any players have brilliant evil schemes for unbalancing the server economies by paying real money to transfer. Anyone who transfers probably just wants to play with their friends who made a new account.
So much doom and gloom over this subject..
Someone called me?
In all seriousness though, why wouldn't you just have a friend with a new account roll on a legacy server?
Ok so for my doom and gloom part of the post; I'm thinking SE will run into issues restricting legacy/1.0 players to servers. Not that I disagree with it, but I'm pretty sure we'll see the new player servers pulling in the majority of the ARR fresh launch crowd. Legacy servers will be filled with legacy players and a few of their friends they can con *cough* vince to join up. The economies will never 'even out' as people put it because the markets will be so different. The only way that it would even come close is if SE decided to let players trod through old content for ages until nobody wanted anything.
For all those who bash me for not making my criticism constructive, I'll just add that this is a problem that can be fixed in several ways. The first and easiest way is already out the window in the form of character resets. The second (and slightly less jilting) option would have been a soft reset. Instead of wiping character progress completely they could instead soft reset and lower everyone to the secondary job cap. The third and probably most appealing option would be to have some sort of bonus incentive for new players to join legacy servers. Sponsor-a-noob campaign could work well to at least soften the issue facing new players joining up.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.
