Keep in mind you're talking about content that is designed not to be challenging, but merely a step in the storyline and leveling content. Limit breaks are designed to provide three scenarios. Mitigate a huge incoming predicatable attack (Ifrit's Inferno/Hellfire/whatever its called) or if you misread the incoming damage heal through it. Or if you're fighting a boss where you need to burst damage to get through a particularly difficult phase.

None of these scenarios are really present early on. Which is why it seems unnecessary because it is. The system is there though so players can get used to seeing it, and play around with it and experiment so that when you're at the end-game content you have a full grasp over what the limit break mechanics are, and then you communicate these to your party members, and use the appropriate skill at the appropriate time to best the encounter. If you're at the end-game and you don't need a limit break at all, then you likely overgear the content and can enjoy your free DPS.

I personally think if they had individual limit breaks it would go a long ways in adding that extra fun factor to combat. Something to look forward to and build up while executing your abilities and making decisions on whether to push to a higher limit break or use a lower level quicker. Planning on what situation to use them during dungeon runs, FATES, bosses or whatever. It is to bad that in a party situation one person gets to use it, and hopefully use it at the right time, or in random groups it'll just be an odd free for all or half hearted planning. I think limit breaks are such a fantastic thing that it would be fun to use them throughout your combat experience, and they can build so nicely as your character gets stronger with new levels of limit breaks etc, would just add another layer of excitement to your character and combat.

They should add Selphie's "The End" Limit Break into the game.

I don't mind that Limit Breaks are restricted to parties, it makes them feel special. If you can spam them on every other mob while solo grinding the whole system will get old fast.

The Breaks should definitely be restricted to Class/Job, however. There's no good explanation on why my DRG suddenly whipped out a buster sword and Omnislashed that boss. It's just dumb. 3 unique Limit Breaks for each each Job., that's the way it should be.

I just feel they could implement them individually in a way that makes them feel unique and special while adding another layer on top of the combat system that could make it more exciting. I have faith the developers could work this out properly, heck I have seen a lot of ideas on this forum that are plenty good.

I agree they should be restricted to class/job, it fits better instead of feeling a bit forced right now, like you mentioned a dragoon bulling that buster sword out of his boot and executing an omnislash...just doesn't seem right.

Overall if the main complaint from a lot of people right now is on the combat system, I think the limit break system is the perfect way, if done right, to really add another layer of fun and depth to give it the excitement people may be looking for.
